Wikimedia Birthday

[edit]
  • There have been discussion on moving this meet up to the Shakespeare's Head from the Penderel's Oak Pub.
  • I would like to know which venue everyone would prefer. I would like to book an area, as we are likely to expect more people to celebrate Wikimedia UK's 4th Birthday.
Penderel's Oak has a downstairs area, which might be bookable. The Sheakspeare's Head does not have a separate room, as far as I know. Gordo (talk) 14:01, 25 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
  • There two issues. The first is moving the regular meetup to the Shakespeare's Head. The other is the Wikimedia UK Birthday Bash. Since this is on Monday 5th November, is it worth considering a separate event, and a different venue? Gordo (talk) 14:56, 25 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
  • I sent out an email about having a Birthday celebration on the same day as the meet up, it seems it will not be a problem. The only issue is which venue will people prefer?. If the Penderels's Oak has a downstairs area, perhaps this will be more appropriate??
  • Hello Anon. Yes, downstairs is good enough, but check with the pub first. They may require minimum spend, or only give you a few tables... Gordo (talk) 10:55, 27 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
  • Sure, i will book a few tables if everyone is happy with that??
  • The Penderel's Oak is probably a safer bet since we're familiar with it, although last time Wikimedia UK booked this downstairs room for a EGM, they apparently forgot about the booking! CT Cooper · talk 19:01, 27 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
  • The Knights Templar is normally closed at weekends. But they will open for parties and other functions. The problem is that they want 140 people eating and drinking, otherwise they will levy a charge. The pub is an above average Wetherspoons offering Knights Templar, 95, Chancery Lane, London, WC2A 1DT. So if we could find a sponsor (Wikimedia UK or somebody else) we could go there for the birthday party).... Gordo (talk) 12:40, 29 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
