Date changed to avoid clash with Wikimedia UK Board Meeting Gordo
Sorry I'll be missing this :(
[edit]I'm about 80% likely to be in London from June 5th or 6th through 13th. I was hoping the next London meetup would fall into that time. Any chance the meetup might shift back to being on the 12th, or is 19th set in stone? Fluffernutter 00:18, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
- If it was the 12th I would have come, cant do the 19th. Please change it back :) Seddon 00:19, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
- Can somebody please explain why this meetup was changed for the sake of a tiny group of people, most of whom never turn up to the place anyway? Ironholds 00:35, 18 May 2011 (UTC)"
- Ask James ??? Gordo
- I can do either date, so I will leave it to others to agree on this. CT Cooper · talk 00:46, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
- I think the 12th clashes with a potential wikimedia event in B'ham, which is why this got changed. Personally I can make either date. WereSpielChequers 08:20, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
- "Date changed to avoid clash with Wikimedia UK Board Meeting" is the rationale. Irrespective of where it is and who's going, that's seven people, most of whom aren't factors in setting meeting dates. Ironholds 20:16, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
Oops, double booking, may not make it this time. Blame my better half. --Fæ 00:17, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
Dates and Venues.
[edit]The Board can set meetings whenever they like. But the second Sunday in the month is the domain of London Wikimeets. On the issue of a non pub venue, I could suggest other venues, some of which might work, and could be free of charge. Gordo 21:00, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
- Having said that, the only thing I would change is the time. I would like to meet in the evening at the Penderel's Oak. The pub works well, and has an august history for Wikimeets! Gordo 09:26, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
- evening is tricky for those outside london although peopel are generaly there until quite late.Geni 23:16, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, yes, those outside London. But since this the London wikimeet and there are several millions potential attendees, can we be selfish? Gordo 15:38, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
- For those on or near the South Coast, such as myself, it is already a challenge to get these meetups, so I would prefer that most of it stays in the daytime. I am open minded about changing the venue, though I have no complaints about the existing one. CT Cooper · talk 11:28, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
- Sometimes a challenge from the East End too </ggg> Gordo 13:14, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
- Speaking as an irregular attendee, I see no problem with the venue. Its decentish food, a fairly friendly and safe environment and its london so tubes take you everywhere (when there arn't works). stick with it i say Seddon 20:26, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
