I think it might be worth adding some advice to people that if they wish to protect their identities, it might be best to use an email address that cannot be linked to them. This could be a very helpful defense in case *Wikipedia* gets hacked and a list of editor emails gets leaked Ashley Madison-style. This could also be useful in reverse cases where you are targeted first: say someone doesn't like you and hacks your main email address, before uncovering your Wikipedia account and quote-mining it to embarrass you. While my identity isn't a particular secret and I don't see my conduct on Wikipedia as particularly controversial, I used to use my main personal email address for my account and have decided to switch to a single-use one. It should also be noted here that editing from a VPN is not always possible, since Wikipedia (not unfairly I think) blocks many of them. Blythwood (talk) 01:17, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
