kpopwiki

closed: added by Aphaia kpopwiki: -> http://www.kpopwiki.com/$1

Source for older Korean and Japanese artists. Good place to "transwiki" Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Filipino etc. articles to mature instead of plainly deleting them. Monni 21:23, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Done as Kpopwiki. --Aphaia 07:02, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

WikiChat

closed:has been added Please add [[wikichat:]] to point to http://www.wikichat.org/$1 and possibly [[wc:]] if its not taken. The WikiChat.org community project is to deliver real-time interactivity to the Wiki community. We have started by integrating a simple php chat system with MediaWiki and a chat tab on the article to link to a chat room associated with that page. We have been going about two weeks and all the initial response from the Wiki community has been enthusiastic. The feature requests are flooding in. We are working on the next version that doesn't use polling (i.e. it is event driven) and therefore will be good for use in high traffic sites. Thanks alot. Firebreather 07:38, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

I got a chance to look at this. I did not have time to actually try chatting but this seems a neat extension. Why do you need the shortcut? Is the chat itself hosted at that site, or is it that sites need to link to it a lot (rather than install the extension and be on their way?) Please help me understand. Also, how many inbound links do you have now? Thanks and sorry in general for the delay in responding. We have a lot of sites that haven't been looked at in quite a while and that's not a good thing but I'm trying to look at as many as I can. Aside: I would oppose wc: as that's too short. ++Lar: t/c 16:34, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
One of the plans for the site and extension, is to allow people chatting on their local Wiki to see people chatting on remote Wikis, and thus allow people and Wikis to link to their communities through realtime interactivity. For this I want to promote inbound and outbound connection, with WikiChat.org as a hub. WikiChat.org will be able to see everyone (that ops in). People who like chat also tend to like to have personal profiles of themselves up, and again I thought it WikiChat.org to be a logical place for central repository of profiles. I want to allow Wikitext in-chat, so having the shortcut will give a shorthand way of allowing people to link their profiles in-chat, as well as promote the idea of WikiChat.org as the hub. Hope all that makes sense? I have yet to add the interwiki chat to the extension, but its been developed. I'm testing it on the site at the moment. No probs with the delay. We are all busy. --Firebreather 09:42, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Done added Wikichat: as the prefix using the supplied URL ++Lar: t/c 04:20, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Botwiki

closed added by Thunderhead Botwiki[1], previously known as Pywikipedia or Fkregex (old url http://fkregex.sno.cc), is an Italian wiki for the development and testing of wikipedia-related bots. It has recently changed its name, and its main language, which is now English, as more international users are contributing to it. We're trying to keep together every bot source code, but we have much road to do.

The interwiki prefix would be bot:Article name, pointing to http://botwiki.sno.cc/wiki/$1.

Snowolf 22:03, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

I think adding it is acceptable, but I think bot: is a confusing interwiki prefix. How about botwiki:? Andre (talk) 02:18, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
I agree with you, that seems better. If that's acceptable to the requester, let's do it that way. ++Lar: t/c 03:52, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
Of course it is :). Sorry for not answering earlier. Snowolf 13:16, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Allright then, I'll add it. Done. Thunderhead 02:53, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

DOI

closed Shizhao let us know of an action he did Have add DOI prefixe: DOI:10.1016/j.rse.2004.03.014--Shizhao 14:39, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

And add PMID prefixe: PMID:11201747--Shizhao 15:58, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
This entry confused me. Not sure whether it is a statement that something was done or a request. I do see DOI on the interwiki map as well as PMID but I am not sure what the (redlinked) notations mean. Shizhao, can you clarify? thanks! Normally these are proposed and discussed for a bit to seek consensus before being added. ++Lar: t/c 16:51, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
this just add by me. --Shizhao 13:19, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Citizendium

closed: did long link, holding off on short one for now There's currently ~600 external links to *.citizendium.org on enwp alone; of these, at a guess, about 2/3 are to the wiki. It would seem sensible to start having an interwiki link up and running; we may not be likely to link to it much in article space, but I have no doubt that as that project grows, we'll end up with more and more internal discussion pointing their way, and that's what interwikis are most helpful for.

They've now hit a reasonably good size - 2500 articles - and have a robust community; we can be reasonably confident the project's hit critical mass, it's not going to collapse soon and that it'll continue to grow. We have a lot to learn from them and vice versa; facilitating discussion between the two projects is probably all for the best, and little technical supports like this help encourage that. And, no, they're not our 'opponents' ;-)

http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/$1

cz: is the obvious prefix, but is a language code so it won't work; would citizen: or citizendium: be possible? (The former is shorter and easier to remember, and so probably preferable) We might need to reconsider how to do this if they end up launching multiple language sites, but we can build that bridge when we come to it. Shimgray 01:06, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

This seems an obvious add (as soon as we have the right prefix nailed down) to me.The preceding unsigned comment was added by Lar (talk • contribs) .
But of course, the only thing I see a problem with is naming it. I believe citizendium would be best... citizen is a little to broad. Cbrown1023 talk 02:02, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Anyone have a problem with that? I'll wait a short while and if no one objects, and no one else has done it, I will. I'm due for a pass through this page handling and archiving things anyway. ++Lar: t/c 23:32, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, that works - I'd prefer something shorter, but there's nothing stopping adding a second alias if it turns out to be too clunky in future :-) Ought we be considering things like en:citizendium: now, or should we leave that until they implement more subdomains? Shimgray 20:55, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
We'll need to wait on that for a while -- for the time being, I'd say just assume citizendium always refers to en. I've their interlingual options continue to grow, then we can implement those as well. Also, could we possibly add in a second, shorter prefix--possibly cit: or similar? cz obviously won't work, and c is, I believe, taken by commons; however, I imagine this resource may become quite widely used, so it would be nice to have something shorter. AmiDaniel 01:18, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
The shorter the better, cit: works for me. ~Kylu (u|t) 04:20, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Done (but not closed yet) I added Citizendium: but not Cit: should that one be added too? I am leery of using up 3 letter prefixes but this does seem to make sense. further comments? ++Lar: t/c 04:21, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

I'm reluctant to add the abbreviated version too. If there is need, it would be requested sooner or later. I'd love to see what happens next for now. --Aphaia 06:41, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Agreed. Mark this close and suggest that it be revisited later if there is a strong case for 'cit:' ++Lar: t/c 00:41, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Amapedia

closed: not done, not really useful content and it would tend to favour one commercial enterprise over another Amapedia: as http://amapedia.amazon.com/view/$1 Amazon is a very notable website, and they have recently made their product wiki more easily usable. Some examples:

Since there's quite a few items on Wikipedia that might also be listed on Amapedia (a lot of "products", games, etc), we could allow people to post their cruft there. Criticism of a product could be cut down to the essentials, and the wide array of "side effects" as they may be could be listed. --The Inedible Bulk 22:15, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Sounds alright to me. Andre (talk) 00:35, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
I'm not sure I agree. We tend not to link to specific commercial sites so as not to show favouritism so I'd like to hear more before I supported adding this. Some random checks showed that some of this content was basically product brochures++Lar: t/c 02:45, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
I guess the content isn't that good, you're right. Andre (talk)
Regarding its content, I'm inclining to reject this request. --Aphaia 06:59, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

WikiTimeScale

closed: not done just yet, let us let it grow for a while, please come back later

  • Wiki format: [[WikiTimeScale:Article name]] or [[wts:Article name]]
  • Linking to: http://www.wikitimescale.org/wiki/ (so adding http://www.wikitimescale.org/wiki/$1 would be needed)
  • Reasoning: WikiTimeScale displays important historic events on a graphical timeline. It's currently avaliable in english, german, chinese and dutch. Many Wikipedia articles can be linked to the according WikiTimeScale article so users will be able to see its place in history in a graphical way. WikiTimeScale currently consists of around 500 entries and is steadily growing (also, I'm working on a tool that uses Wikipedia data to enter entries into WikiTimeScale, this will make it grow even faster). Its entries are such as historic people, important events, empires, wars and even events in geological and universal scale (such as supercontinents and the formation of earth/universe). Everything with a start and end date can be entered into WikiTimeScale and can be usefull to be linked from Wikipedia to WikiTimeScale. I think that would be a big benefit for both wikis, since Wikipedia lacks the graphical illustration of events in all of history. DontPanic 17:01, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
I see this page now the first time, and it is very useful. --Fg68at 01:33, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
I checked this site out some time ago, and forgot to actually give a view of the request. It's a very neat site. I'd be inclined to add it, but first, I don't think wts: is appropriate, it's too short of aprefix, I'd go with WikiTimeScale: only... my larger concern though is that the number of entries is not very large. The sites own statistics page: [3] gives additional insight... something less than 1000 inbound references in a month suggests that maybe this site isn't yet matured to its full potential. Thoughts? ++Lar: t/c 03:38, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
I like this site but a couple of things concern me:
Perhaps this one would be good to postpone for now. --A. B. (talk) 01:37, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Aquatribu

closed: Does not seem large enough or general interest enough

  • [[aquatribu:]] (http://wiki.aquatribu.com) is a wiki based encycopedia that provides the aquarist hobbist a central resource of all things aquarium related. We have fish and plants profiles, disease and medical treatments as well as product reviews.
  • Code : http://wiki.aquatribu.com/$1 (Very short URL)

--Vetofish 12:35, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

This wiki is in French. Are there a lot of inbound links to it already from, say, fr:wp? The statistics page shows about 150 content pages with around 4000 edits from around 26 registered users. As with some of the other wikis I've checked out today, I'd be inclined not to add this without more information on the likelyhood of a lot of inbound links. ++Lar: t/c 17:29, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Editthis

closed: Thunderhead removed this, there being no objections Why is Editthis in the interwiki map? Doesn't seem like it would be of any use whatsoever to the Wikimedia projects. Thunderhead 16:40, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

There are a lot of Wikis at that location IIRC. Kylu may know more about the mechanics of Editthis specifically. ++Lar: t/c 20:59, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Well, the interwiki is for the main site, which is a huge spam place. Thunderhead 00:37, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
