Didn't want to interrupt the flow of the main page, but: I think the community-button-making idea I wrote about was unrealistic (or at the very least should be tabled for now) -- wikimedians are generally more interested in writing and designing than putting together physical objects, I think -- and unlike drafting enyclopedia articles, button-making (and shirt printing) are repetitive and easily automated.

Community design generation seems a little more feasible, but perhaps should be limited to a particular format -- and, I think, perhaps tabled for the moment as well while we get some momentum going in less experimental modes. Tlogmer 01:40, 1 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think the calendar idea is pretty cool (both a 365-day and a 12-month one). I do wonder whether or not it could ever be an actual money-maker or not, though. I'm thinking $10-15 would be the maximum sales price, assuming a professional quality product, and have no idea what the cost would be to make the things. Count me as a skeptic of the merchandising idea, as far as it being a significant source of revenue, but I'm open-minded about it. Anthony DiPierro 19:25, 3 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
