Talk:Europeana/1914-18/Wikimedia Polska
Add topicDear WM-PL,
To assist in helping you discover locally-relevant resources in, or local partners to, the Europeana 1914-18 ecosystem, we've compiled this list.
You can find materials from Poland with this pre-filled search in the Europeana 14-18 collection website. If you would like help contacting these organisations, please write to Ad Pollé. Also, Prof. Maciej Górny, Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter, Deutsches Historisches Institut Warschau; is a member of the Europeana 1914-1918 Advisory Board and could potentially be of assistance to you.
Moreover, here is some freely available content already online:
- Content digitised at local collection days (UGC):
- Opole on 16/11/2014 at Muzeum Śląska Opolskiego (http://muzeum.opole.pl/) http://www.europeana1914-1918.eu/en/collection/explore/collection_day/OP16
- Szczecin on 22/11/2014 at Muzeum Narodowe w Szczecinie (http://www.muzeum.szczecin.pl/) http://www.europeana1914-1918.eu/en/collection/explore/collection_day/SZ22
- Poznan on 3-4/6/2016 at Poznanskie Centrum http://www.europeana1914-1918.eu/en/collection/explore/collection_day/PZ03
Some of this might be appropriate to upload to Wikimedia Commons and use in articles.
- And all UGC content from all collection days across the continent with Polish descriptions
- Content already on Commons from Europeana 1914-18 grouped by language of their description.
- The statistics for image usage of Europeana 14-18 files per-language Wikipedia. You could identify content already used in the English WP that is not in use on your language wikipedia, see if it might be a good candidate to add.
- Documents in Polish on the Europeana Transcribathon portal. These could be transcribed there, the images uploaded to Commons, and/or transcribed on Wikisource.
Finally, you can also upload/contribute content to the Europeana 1914-18 website, for example by taking a relevant set of multimedia released by one of your local GLAM partners or activities under a free-license/public domain, and re-sharing it. The process for doing this is outlined at http://www.europeana1914-1918.eu/en/contributor
This list supplements the Suggested Activities "for inspiration" & "ready to go projects" already listed on the main project page. I hope it is helpful to you.
Sincerely, Wittylama (Europeana) (talk) 15:17, 2 March 2017 (UTC)
End of challenge
[edit]I'm sorry to say that the deadline of the Europeana 1914-18 challenge has come, and gone. Since WMPL's page remains unchanged since February, I will have to declare this portfolio incomplete. Nevertheless, I do thank you for your goodwill in wanting to be involved in this campaign, just like WMPL was so very much involved in the '280' challenge last year. Look out for Europeana's next wikimedia activity - focused on a theme of migration in 2018. With best wishes, and on behalf of the Europeana 1914-18 team, Wittylama (Europeana) (talk) 18:14, 18 August 2017 (UTC)
