- @PiRSquared17: This was a page to coordinate for a local chapter in Egypt a couple of years ago. It's not active now, and even if it is, the rules now do not allow starting a chapter without having a working user group for two years at least. Hello, Egyptian wiki[pm]edians! I would like to ask you guys a few questions to have all the relevant information in one place (one-two paragraph summaries or links to other pages are fine), which we use to get to know you better and to have a catalog of all affiliates as we ask all of them a very similar set of questions. These will also be useful if you later in time decide to apply for chapter or thematic organization status. Please keep in mind that there are no "expected" or wrong answers.
- Who are the people behind this application?
- How many?
- any active (on local or international level) Wiki[pm]edians? (please provide user names and wiki of origin)
- Active in which communities if any?
- How are they geographically distributed?
- How many people do you expect will eventually want to join?
- For the application and final agreement we will require two contact persons that can sign the Wikimedia_User_Group_Agreement on behalf of the group. Who will those be?
- Could you give a short overview of the time path of the founding up to now?
- Have there been any activities/meetings etc. of this group of people?
- What kind of activities are planned for the future in the user group?

- Most of us live in Cairo, Egypt with some from other Egyptian cities and one user form Syria.
- How many people do you expect will eventually want to join?
- We are now 14 users with expectations to grow with time and activities.

- Could you give a short overview of the time path of the founding up to now?
- The Idea of having an affiliate in Egypt has been discussed many times since 2007 until we founded this group.
- Have there been any activities/meetings etc. of this group of people?
- Yes, the members of this group gathered many times since Wikimania 2008 in Alexandria, Egypt and in the Education Program events and meetings.
- What kind of activities are planned for the future in the user group?
- Continuing to support the Education Program and outreach events, organizing Wiki loves monuments, editing and photography contests and hosting Wikimania in Egypt again.
- How can we help you?
- We need your help until we become a local chapter able to support the wiki movement sufficiently in Egypt.
- What name would you like to use? (There are some templates at Step-by-step_user_group_creation_guide#Naming_of_user_groups.)

- @Maor X: Well, if you're asking about the active users we've mentioned when answering your questions, then 9 of the 10 mentioned live currently in Egypt with no intention to leave it soon. The Affiliations Committee is looking for new members. The committee's work requires communication with volunteers all over the World, negotiating skills and cultural sensitivity and the ability to understand legal texts. We try to get a healthy mix of different skill sets in our members.
Members are usually selected every twelve months for staggered two-year terms. The applications will be voted on by the current members not seeking re-election, taking into account comments put forward by the committee's members, advisers, WMF staff and board liaisons based on the membership criteria. A final decision will be made by the end of October 2014, with new members expected to join on or around 1 November 2014.
