Gender terms

[edit]

Since "male" and "female" are adjectives of sex, it's quite normal that "sexual" content (whatever that may be) shows up when someone searches for it. What did you expect? Plugs? --89.244.162.35 13:55, 18 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

male and female are also gender terms and normal adjectives to use, without having any sexual meaning. I agree that these terms are different to "toothbrush" . I have grouped the terms together so they can be considered differently. John Vandenberg (talk) 00:36, 19 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

I think it would make sense to include direct links to the problematic (or "problematic") images from these search results. It's not immediately clear to me what's at issue with commons:Special:Search/all:"how it feels" or commons:Special:Search/all:underwater. Including links to the actual images would allow for later verification that a problem still exists. --MZMcBride (talk) 16:59, 26 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

For underwater, the problem used to be a woman in bondage gear submerged in a bathtub (File:Bathtub_bondage.jpg). That image no longer shows because of this edit in Commons; however, now we have File:Underwater masturbation.jpg on the first page of results. "How it feels" has been fixed by someone (probably the same editor). It used to return a masturbation video IIRC. --JN466 01:38, 24 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Essay template

[edit]

I don't think we need the essay template in dozens and dozens of minor languages; people have to scroll down several screens before they come to the actual page content, and may well be misled by the template. As the page is in English only, there is little value attached to being able to read in all of these languages that this page is an essay, whereas a lot of value is lost if visitors to this page think it is not in English. --JN466 01:43, 24 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
