Relation to Wikimedia/Wikipedia?
[edit]How does this relate to Wikimedia/Wikipedia? Prototyperspective (talk) 20:41, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- It doesn't, except on Wikiversity where mw:Extension:Quiz already exists. * Pppery * it has begun 16:41, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
- FYI there is phab:T371504. I have no issue with it but find there's far better ways to make Wikipedia more engaging. Prototyperspective (talk) 22:06, 12 October 2024 (UTC)
- I have often thought I would like to take a quiz/test on Commons for subjects like "Adding correct structured data" or "Copyright fundamentals". Testing seems to be universal when teaching important concepts, eg in schools. Maybe this can be done with the Extension:Quiz already. I am sure Wikipedians could design a few relevant quizzes. A minor use for this wish. Commander Keane (talk) 10:04, 20 October 2024 (UTC)

Quiz exploration
[edit]Wanted to follow up that it sounds like @CMadeo (WMF) is looking into something like this in Q3 (Jan-March). JWheeler-WMF (talk) 21:52, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
Exporting Items into Learning Objects
[edit]I think that this is a great idea with tremendous educational benefits.
It would be useful if end users could export individual items into one or more file formats, e.g., including into QTI.
It would also be useful for end-users to be able to organize and export one or more resources into learning objects resembling how they can, today, create and export collections or books of Wikipedia articles.
With respect to modeling these items and learning objects, there are, to consider, multiple learning object metadata schemas and ontologies available.
One can envision items beyond simple multiple-choice ones. For instance, a math-related item could provide, discuss, and ask one or more questions about interactive 3D-object media resources (see also: Community Wishlist/Wishes/Support full colour 3D models on Wikimedia projects). Another use-case for interactive 3D objects would be in the domain of biology, e.g., select the mitochondria in this rotatable, zoomable 3D model of a living animal cell.
Items could each be URL-addressable: https://en.wikiquiz.org/wiki/89f9a6fa-70f6-4f13-a55b-4059c417ca82
.
Items could each have discussion areas: https://en.wikiquiz.org/wiki/Talk:89f9a6fa-70f6-4f13-a55b-4059c417ca82
.
Educational exercises and activities could be associated with one or more Wikipedia articles or other external resources via Wikidata.
Enabling and enhancing search capabilities for educational exercises and activities would be useful to consider. AdamSobieski (talk) 07:33, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- See: Wikiversity: Introduction to Learning Objects.
- Also:
- How could we use metadata for items and learning objects to support personalization and adaptation in learning objects, expanding on computerized adaptive testing?
- Or, instead, would learning objects be like panels or testlets of items which are adaptively administered to learners?
- Could users securely send anonymized usage data from generated learning objects, this data to be connected to items, e.g., on Wikidata? These data would be useful to evaluate items. This data about items could enhance searching for them.
- Which (other) features might a Wikiquiz API have?
- How could AI interoperate with Wikiquiz, e.g., automatic item generation?
- How could we use metadata for items and learning objects to support personalization and adaptation in learning objects, expanding on computerized adaptive testing?
