Hey @Nardog do you seem to have these same loading issues when the JS interface is turned on, or is it only for the no-JS version? JWheeler-WMF (talk) 15:23, 22 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

It's not a "loading issue"; it's by design and I want pagination. It applies to both the JS and non-JS interface. I have no idea what you are asking about. Nardog (talk) 15:41, 22 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
The wish insinuated that you use the non-JS interface, so it wasn't clear if the poor loading happened on the JS interface as well. JWheeler-WMF (talk) 19:41, 22 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
The problem isn't that it loads slowly per se. In order to see older changes, you have to increase the number of results, which inevitably results in slower page load. That's an effect, not the problem. The problem is that you can't show results starting at an earlier time instead of the present. Nardog (talk) 03:08, 23 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
You can go back more than 500 entries if you use the non-JS interface and edit the URL directly, but obviously you can only increase it so much or it will time out or exceed your RAM capacity. Nardog (talk) 03:57, 23 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

This proposal is very important. Moreover, I don't see a good reason for the max 1000 changes limit. Pagination would solve this problem. It can't be understated how important this change is. A workaround is to see changes by namespace one at a time but that also only increases the limit somewhat and is no sufficient. Users may also open diffs just to be able to see older changes. Currently, I consider the Watchlist broken and the change proposed here would substantially address that and may not be overly difficult or problematic to implement. Apparently this was also in last year's Wishlist and the phab issue is open since 2017 (I think it should be set to high importance). Prototyperspective (talk) 11:57, 30 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

A problem with this wish is that the title can't include a slash so it says RecentChanges Watchlist so I thought it's about the RecentChanges pages which I and many are probably not interested in / don't consider very important, unlike the Watchlist.
