[edit]So you mean (pre-defined) profile pictures/avatars or something? Sjoerd de Bruin (talk) 11:35, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
- Profile pictures/avatars that users can upload, but with a fallback. Newt713 (talk) 11:37, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
- Where would these be displayed? Why/ This is another one of those fundamentally misguided "socialify Wikimedia" proposals that seem to be in vogue. * Pppery * it has begun 16:44, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
- Not sure what discussion system they are using at MediaWiki.org but it does make it clearer who posted what, eg mw:Project:Support desk. I guess it could implement icons. Perhaps making it clearer which post belongs to which user could be a side effect of this wish. Having said that I really don't want to view user selected icons. I don't really want to view user selected signatures either, particularly when they politically campaign with emojis for example. One alternative would be to let the system select a colour/shape from a hash of the username, plonk the first character of the username in the middle of the icon and follow with the standard username text. I would get to recognise and associate an icon with each regular contributor. Not a priority task, but I guess an interested volunteer might pick it up. Oppose
[edit]Oppose This to me seems like trying to be more like a social media, and I don't really see the point when you can also express yourself using a signature. QuickQuokka [talk • contribs] 07:49, 24 August 2024 (UTC)
