@Tochiprecious thanks for raising this opportunity. This is an interesting wish. Would you characterize it as more of a challenge with notifications in the Wikimedia ecosystem, or a function of prioritizing and processing data? JWheeler-WMF (talk) 11:55, 2 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your quick response @JWheeler-WMF. The challenge is primarily a function of prioritizing and processing data. While notifications are a component, the core issue still lies in efficiently extracting relevant information from the available data and acting upon it. Thank you - what are the deficiencies in the current table? https://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Incubator:All_projects JWheeler-WMF (talk) 12:10, 2 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello @JWheeler-WMF
Thank you for your quick follow up with this. I apologize for the late response; I just moved to a new location and trying to settle.
This is almost close to what I'm asking for but it needs some improvements. For example, making it automatic like the Outreach Dashboard where it tracks inputs automatically, it should also keep the info tabs as they are and if possible notify us either via email or talk pages about active wikis that would need approval just like you get the meta in-mail.. From what I see, it seems this is manually tracked and updated. I also noticed it just updated for Wikipedia while there are other projects in the incubator. Tochiprecious (talk) 07:45, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Tochiprecious Hi! This request was brought to our team’s (Language and Product Localization) attention recently and investigating this further would be in line with the ongoing experiments as part of the Future of Language Incubation initiative. If you are still interested in this topic, it would be helpful to understand from your perspective and other Language Committee members (if you could promote the request among them as well) about some of the broader challenges with the current intake and review process. Here are some questions to further break this down:
Review Process:
  • What gaps exist in the current review workflow? What is causing eligible languages to remain stagnant in the review process?
  • What potential interventions can help improve the review process?
Intake Process:
  • What steps in the current intake process are most challenging for newcomers? Are there common issues that requesters encounter when submitting language requests?
  • What specific changes would Language Committee members recommend for improving the intake process?
  • How might an improved process affect the volume or quality of language requests?
