Clarification around dark mode on iPad Safari

[edit]

Hi @TwinBoo!

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention - we do explicitly support dark mode on iPads using supported versions of Safari, and have tested on a number of iPads to confirm they work. Would you mind providing us with some additional information (iPad generation/screen size, safari version, iOS version) that would be helpful in determining what is causing this issue? In addition, if there's any way for you to provide a recording of the error you're seeing that would help a lot, but understand if that's not possible

Thank you! SToyofuku-WMF (talk) 18:34, 26 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

I’m using an eight-generation iPad on iPadOS version 17.5.1 and I can’t figure out the Safari version. The problem doesn’t occur in the settings menu but does for every other page I’ve tested. I’ve recorded a video of it but don’t have enough storage on the device to send it through, but all there is to state is that reloading/entering a page causes dark mode to appear for under a second before it reverts back to the default. Hope this helps. —TwinBoo (talk) 23:18, 26 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Gotcha - still looking into this, but it doesn't seem to be happening to too many other people. Are you using the desktop or mobile version of the site? Also, do you have any gadgets installed that may be interfering here? SToyofuku-WMF (talk) 23:58, 29 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
