Community Liaison team name

[edit]

The team name Community Liaison currently redirects to Community Engagement (Product). Could somebody clarify the name of that team please? Rogol Domedonfors (talk) 21:38, 16 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Do you mean in the table itself? There is a link at the bottom of the page to the banner calendar --EGalvez (WMF) (talk) 18:01, 24 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Team functions

[edit]

This would seem to be a good place to list an explanation of what it is that the various teams do, and where and how members of the community can most effectively engage with Community Engagement, and who has the specific responsibility for managing each interaction -- to tell the community where we may go to find an authoritative, up-to-date statement of the remit of each team. It would be of great help to the community to have a clear, actionable, statement of what matters that the community wish to raise are, and are not, within the remit of each of the teams, and clear and authoritative statement of where and how such matters may be effectively raised. May I further request that we do not have a discussion here between members of the teams as to what or where such things might be. What we want and need, is a single, prompt, clear, accessible, agreed, authoritative, reliable, actionable statement of how these things actually stand. Three weeks on, nobody else troubled to do this, so I have put in a line for each team gleaned from the links available. Of course I do not claim that they are clear, agreed, authoritative reliable or actionable. As to where and how members of the community can most effectively engage with Community Engagement, that remains, for the present, unexplained. Rogol Domedonfors (talk) 20:03, 6 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Four years later, the WMF has perhaps come to realise that a poorly scoped department is not a useful structure. I hope the lesson is learned for the future and that we won't see stuff moved around where it's convenient, after which you end up with odd groupings of things and you are forced to come up some "creative" name which nobody understands and maybe you even lack a coherent description of the scope of the department or how it interacts with the others. I, for one, would welcome some decrease in newspeak-like names which dominated the WMF structure since 2014 or so when "Community Advocacy" was invented and attached to "Legal", and then one by one we lost all normal-language names like "Grantmaking" and "Fundraising" while the jargon kept increasing and confusion reigned supreme. Engineering Community

[edit]

According to wmf:Staff and contractors#Engineering Community and wmf:Org chart, the Engineering Community team is part of this department. If that's not right then those pages need correction. Rogol Domedonfors (talk) 20:04, 4 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Wikimedian events

[edit]

Every year there are several events all around the world. While one can't possibly attend all of them, I'm curious whether someone can think of a specific event where the presence of a Community Liaison would be particularly relevant.
