How to build strong teams?
[edit]Hi @Asaf (WMF): :) I have a question: Do you think it's reasonable/possible to add one more dimension to this tab, namely, "how to build strong teams that succeed?". In my experience (when I have my volunteer hat on), that's the kind of skill that can help many of the communities' projects/efforts. You can think of conflict management as an important part of how to build strong teams who work toward the same goal but there are other skills to learn, for example: how to build a strong team culture, how to navigate the ecosystem your project is operating in, the importance of leadership and how to become a good leader, etc. --LZia (WMF) (talk) 11:06, 14 February 2017 (UTC)
- @LZia (WMF): There are aspects to team building that are about conflict management (e.g. harmonizing different approaches and styles), and others that aren't (e.g. leadership development, mentorship, empowerment). So I'd say it's more of a separate capacity, and one I am quite interested in helping interested communities develop. It is mentioned in my current proposal; note that this six capacities here are only those identified for the pilot year (now behind us); there are certainly additional capacities relevant to communities, and leadership development / team building is certainly one of them. - It makes sense, Asaf. Thanks for elaborating! :) --LZia (WMF) (talk) 20:47, 14 February 2017 (UTC)
