The "Work at Wikimedia" link cannot be clicked on Internet Explorer. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 193.188.105.20 (talk • contribs) 00:07, 30 July 2010 (UTC).Reply

Thanks for notifying us, the issue is now fixed. (For those interested, the problem was that we had the link outside of the table, and Internet Explorer fails when that happens. We put the link inside the table and the issue was fixed.) Cbrown1023 talk 01:24, 30 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Why WP?

[edit]

Why, out of all WMF projects, only WP has its own personal message? Don't Wikinewsies, Wikibookians, Wikquotians, Wiktionarians, etc, want their own message too? Kayau WP WB WN 03:23, 30 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yes, vexata quaestio: Wikipedia is a strong brand, others are not, so just not use them. But if you used "Work at {{SITENAME}}" it would be clear that there's a problem with such a suggestion: "Hey, I'm already working at it, I have n thousands edits!". I had to correct the Italian translation to avoid that (I could use five differenet prepositions, but I see that there's no English specific equivalent for presso... :-p). --Nemo 08:35, 31 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Comment Comment I suppose who this job offer is directed to are not limited to so-called Wiki-*-ans... Many volunteers working at Wiki-*-s may (probably) forgive such inaccuracy:-/.

Indeed.

Languages not having WMF projects

[edit]

Does this need to be translated for languages which currently don't have Wikimedia projects? Or it is useless for them? --Imdadb 18:46, 31 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

You can translate it into whatever language you want that has an ISO language code. However, only translations into languages that are supported by MediaWiki will actually be viewable by users. For example, if you have an incubator test project (but not an actual Wikipedia/other full Wikimedia site) for a language and have localized some of the MediaWiki interface, then you should still feel free to translate the notice if you want. (Anyone who has their interface set to your language will be able to see the translation.) Cbrown1023 talk 03:44, 1 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
