Notation of Abstract Content

[edit]

I am at the moment not sure if the notation of Abstract content is easy enough to reach enough people who are interested in contributing. From my point of view it is not so difficult to generate a Text based on a template with gaps for the facts that have to be entered into these gaps. So I am interested in a script to convert natural language text into abstract content. I prefer Option4, which means an own Wiki for Abstract Content. From my point of view to represent knowledge in an language it is necessary to work with people who are speaking the language at least to check if the content is displayed properly and to be able to understand cultural specialities. Diversity and the possibility to have different solutions is from my point of view very important. I like the diversity of the Wikimedia projects and the possibility to represent the same knowledge in different ways in Wikidata is a challenge for writing Abstract content. Wikidata and notability

[edit]

The notability rules we want for abstract Wikipedia are likely more like those for a Wikipedia editor than those for Wikidata. "Option 1: A new tab on items in Wikidata" would create huge problems for Wikidata because more stringent notability rules make sense when there's freeform text than when there's well-structured data. A seperate mul-Wikipedia would do the job better and also allow for using the different system of interwiki links to link to abstract Wikipedia.

Having multiple communities with different interests isn't bad. ChristianKl14:19, 20 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

It's a good point about the different inclusion criteria for structured data items and for text entries! Thanks for that thought. --DVrandecic (WMF) (talk) 19:23, 14 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
