Your contribution
[edit]Please tell us which existing Wikimedia projects (Wikipedia, Commons, etc.) and language versions you are contributing to, and some of your best contribution towards the project and movement. Please add relevant Wiki/external link wherever applicable
- I joined Wikipedia several months ago to contribute myself towards the global seekers of knowledge. Slowly-slowly, I expanded my membership to simple Wikipedia and several other branches of Wikimedia Foundation. As I have myself noticed this inevitable inclination of articles in English language. So, in order to become more responsible citizen of the country, I joined the हिंदी Wikipedia to contribute myself in reducing the content gap between English and other Indic languages. Most of the information on Wikipedia about India is extensively in English, although efforts have been done to reduce this content gap. But, Hindi Wikipedia (The strongest branch of Wikipedia among Indian languages) is almost 50 times smaller in number of articles as compared to English Wikipedia and the condition of other languages is even more complex. So, if given chance, then I will greatly try to improve the quality and quantity of Indic languages on Wikipedia.
- Truly speaking, I am currently contributing my knowledge only in English language (But I want to inform all other wikimedia that I can comfortably contribute my knowledge in Hindi, Punjabi and bhojpuri languages on Wikipedia). I recently found that although there are many Hindu temples in South Korea, but they were not authentically mentioned in Wikipedia. So, in order to help the Hindu travelers visiting South Korea, I created three articles relating to information about Hindu temples, their functions, locations and distinguishing features on Wikipedia (My motive of creating these articles was purely knowledge imparting and helping tourists and pilgrims, not biased with my religion) and the articles created by me have effectively helped many Hindus living or visting the peninsular country in East Asia.
- Till date, I have made 300+ active contributions in different branches of Wikimedia foundation in the form of edits, uploads, article creations and reverting the poor or outdated quality of knowledge etc. Recently, I found an article about India on simple wikipedia whose Infobox was filled with many striking mistakes. So, as a patriotic citizen, I tried my best and updated the article to the optimum level. The latest article created by me was "Rishu". My name is Rishu, but I myself and my parents were totally clueless of the origin and meaning of my name (looks like a weird thing, but it is true). But after searching about the term for several months and collecting relevant information from each and every possible source, I found that the term "Rishu" has no relevance with the Indian culture, it is originated and related to East Asian countries. So, to impart this valuable knowledge and help other Rishus living in this world who are clueless about their own name, I created this article on Wikipedia and was surprised to get support from various other Wikimedia from different countries of this world. At last, I was proud to have done a noble job for the society and improved the ocean of knowledge on Wikipedia.

Reason
[edit]Why do you need this support (Internet and/or laptop)
I must admit that all of the contributions made by me on Wikipedia was sourced from my smartphone. But truly speaking, working on a laptop is a way different experience and more comfortable than working on a smartphone as several features of Wikipedia are only accessed by the desktop version of Wikipedia. So, it will greatly help me if I am having a laptop to operate on Wikipedia and it will extensively support me in contributing my concise for content of aforementioned languages of India. Also, it is obvious that Wikipedia can not be accessed without a proper internet connection and the data plan of laptops are a bit costlier for an individual like me. Moreover, internet will profoundly help me in sourcing various types of rich knowledge for Indian languages in supporting the cause of this movement.
Future activities
[edit]How will you use this in the next six months?
Well, first of all, I will figure out the prominent topics which are lagging in the quantity and quality of content in the three above mentioned languages and will also try to find out the articles which have not been created in the Indian languages but are accessible in other languages and then the real work will start with the content building of new articles and existing articles. I will also try to provide reliable references to different articles and will try to add the information connected with media content of those articles. Apart from that, I will also try to prevent the kind of vandalism and piracy of information on the articles of Indic language Wikipedias. But all of these things will began and succeed only with the active support of other Wikimedians.
