We came together to create the Movement Strategy recommendations. Now it’s time to figure out how to implement them. Wikimedia communities everywhere are invited to select their top priorities for implementation in 2021. Prioritization is the start of the transition to implementation. These local, regional, and thematic discussions will be hosted online by affiliates and communities with support from the Support Team.

What is prioritization?

There are many great initiatives in the Movement Strategy recommendations. Prioritization is meant as a reflection exercise for you and your group to identify what is important for implementation in 2021. This can be based on wanting to expand or strengthen existing work, to address community or movement needs, or to grow and innovate in new areas. Reflection can begin generally at the level of the recommendations, or it can be quite specific at the level of actions and changes. Discuss what will make a difference for you as a group and respond to your needs, and what will have a wider impact for the movement.

Overview

Designed by the Transition Design Group, prioritization events are local virtual workshops to kick off implementation discussions and see what recommendations respond to different needs and can make a difference in the movement. The aim is to produce prioritized lists of actions and changes that communities and affiliates feel will make an impact, both locally and globally. Implementation will be deeply-rooted in our principles.

Nə etməlisən

  1. Sentyabr və oktyabr aylarında yerli və ya regional virtual prioritetləşdirmə seminarı təşkil etmək üçün Dəstək Qrupuna Meta və ya e-poçt vasitəsilə məlumat verin (aşağıdakı ünvana baxın). Regional tədbirlər hazırlanmaq və məlumat mübadiləsi üçün olacaq. Prioritetləşdirmə fərdi icmalar və filiallar səviyyəsində olacaq, yerli əhəmiyyətli və maraqlı, həyata keçirməkdə maraqlarınızı müəyyən etmək üçün seminar tərzi olacaq. Prioritetləşdirmə tədbirlərinin bu bir səhifəlik icmalı və Strategiya ilə əlaqəli hər şey üçün mərkəzi nöqtəniz kimi Meta-dakı səhifə-yə baxın.
  2. Görüşünüzə hazırlaşın, köməkçi tapın və lazım gələrsə materialları tərcümə edin. Təklif olunan gündəliyə nəzər salın. Maraq sahələrinizi və tövsiyələri 2021-ci ildə həyata keçirmək üçün prioritetlərinizi müəyyən etmək üçün birdən çox zəngə ev sahibliyi etməli ola bilərsiniz.
  3. Görüşü sənədləşdirin (video, qeydlər), hesabat şablonunu tamamlayın (aşağıdakı düymədən istifadə edərək, vikidə və ya sorğunu formalaşdırın) və ərzində bizə göndərin 7 gün, olduqca asan.
  4. Noyabr ayında qlobal tədbirlərə qoşulun. Budur, indidən icraya qədər bütün prosesin bir səhifəlik icmalı.

Hər hansı bir sualınız və ya şərhiniz varsa, dəstək komandasına müraciət etməkdən çəkinməyin (e-poçt vasitəsilə: strategy2030 (_AT_) wikimedia.org). Xahiş edirik, Vikimedia Fondunun Dostluq Kosmik Siyasətini yaxından nəzərdən keçirin.

Suggested Agenda

The first call can be up to 2 hours to introduce the process and the steps ahead. This call can be organized in collaboration with other groups or at a regional level. Local prioritization workshops would take place afterwards. Organizers should take time to introduce the principles as a guiding framework for our work ahead. The recommendations are full of great ideas and should be introduced with topics that are locally relevant.

Some calls may have a few people and happen once. Others, like around popular topics, may have lots of people attend and need follow-ups. Organizers should encourage other groups and communities to host conversations of their own.

Opening Check in

This section of the agenda is ideal for sharing information and getting prepared, like at a regional or thematic level.

1. What is Movement Strategy and why is it important to take part in its implementation?
2. What are the next steps after prioritization? (one-page overview | timeline and steps)
3. Introduce the Movement Strategy principles as building blocks of our movement and our work
4. Introduce the 10 amazing Movement Strategy recommendations
Break or Follow-up Call
Discussions 1. Think about the recommendations and the work you’re already doing. What are you working on that is aligned with Movement Strategy? This is the main focus of the call. It provides great opportunities for small breakout group work during the call.
2. Think about your needs and the work that you would like to be doing. Which recommendations are important for your community’s future?
3. From the discussed recommendations, which actions and changes will make a difference and respond to your needs?
4. To work on implementing these initiatives, what human capacity and/or financial resources do you need?
5. In your opinion, which recommendation(s) require global coordination?
Closing and next steps

Additional Guidance for Organizers

What Online events to decide local priorities for implementing the Movement Strategy recommendations
Objectives
  • Prepare people and organizations for discussing implementing the Movement Strategy recommendations.
  • Identify local, regional and thematic priorities for implementation in 2021.
  • Create a collaborative environment for implementation.
When Prioritization should take place from late September to October 2020.
Global conversations around coordination will take place in November and December.
How Affiliate and community organizers should adapt the suggested agenda for their context.
What is required
  • Facilitation so everyone can feel safe and welcomed to participate.
  • Translation of documents and interpretation (where needed)
  • Documentation so relevant information is captured.
  • Reporting template completed.
Resources

Resources (e.g. data support, facilitation, translation, documentation) can be reallocated from existing funds, such as from cancelled in-person events, or newly applied for if needed.

Work with the Support Team to find the best solution for you.

Who should attend Everyone! Share the information widely and keep your community informed.
Special focus on project communities and active online editors.
Special focus on groups underrepresented in the Wikimedia movement - women, people of colour, indigenous communities, LGBT+ Wikimedians, and others.
Parallel participation

Think of alternatives for people that cannot attend or for those with bandwidth issues:

  • Çağrı qeyd edin və qeydləri və qeydləri bir az sonra təqdim edin
  • Hər bir zəngdən sonra 48 saat ərzində insanların qeydləri nəzərdən keçirmələrini və daxilolmalarını əlavə etmələrini təmin edin
Work with others

If there is interest from other affiliates and communities, you can co-host events together for sharing information and ideas. Prioritization should still happen at the level of individual groups.

  • Encourage communities and affiliates to host events on topics of interests and for communities or languages.
What is the outcome
  • Communities excited to join global discussions and be a part of implementation.
  • Prioritized lists of initiatives that are important locally and regionally.
