The purpose of the writing and editing workshop, led by Wikimedia ZA president Bobby Shabangu, was to increase and create in-depth notable African-related content on the Wikipedia platform. During the workshop participants were taken through a process of understanding what Wikipedia is, which consists of five pillars of Wikipedia, which are a free online encyclopaedia written from a neutral point of view, free content that anyone can use, edit, and distribute, people should treat each other with respect and civility, and it has no firm rules. and creating profiles in order to update and translate content.

The articles chosen for editing were under the category of Eswatini content, such as Eswatini history, religion, culture, and so on. The training includes a two-week editing contest after the workshop day to give participants time to sharpen their newly acquired skills. The editing contest includes a prize for the top three participants who would have edited an article with photographs and categories and at least 100 words, with the first prize winner receiving a laptop, the second winner receiving a tablet, and the third winner receiving a data voucher. The winners of the workshops will be revealed in the final week of May 2023.
