SUD/ Annual Activity Report 2020

This is a summary report of the activities that the Wikimedia Community User Group Sudan (SUD) carried out between April 2020 and November 2021. Due to the global health crisis, COVID-19, several activities planned by the Group were not Done with Lack to access to Community Supporters and Fund-raising activities and gathering.

March 2020

Wikimedia Sudan Community and for the second time[1] to organize WikiGap2. 0 for Sudan with the Support of the Embassy of Sweden in Khartoum, the goal is to increase the geographic area of work and involvement of actors. We believe we need to increase the capacity of participants in WikiGap on gender concept and give them some inside (Capacity building) on issues related to gender equality and gender mainstreaming

Sudan has variety of cultures the world don’t know about it because it is offline.

Benefits:

*Engage new audiences and partners

*Create content on gender related issues and reduce content gap on Sudan

*Engage the community and recruit new people.

*Announce or establish the presence of the group

*The events is held in Khartoum State, Khartoum and South Darfur Nyala from 9th to 31st March 2020.

Community Social Media Portal was Created and Lunched our official communication Channel through Telegram. Facebook Page and Community Group In cooperation with the Facebook Wikipedia Sudan Initiative the page administration was shared by the Page admin Created Since 2005 with the Community founding members. Online Facebook Live with the Sundanese Research Community a group with a total of more than 10K members. Announcement Of the Wiki Loves Africa Photography Contest 2020 winning pictures under the theme Transportation.

The community in Cooperation with Khartoum University for Developmental Studies and Research Institute (DSR)I organized One Day Training in the light of the Wiki Loves Monument 2020 Campaign. Total of seven people joined the session.

January 2021

Wikipedia 20th Birthday Celebration Event online event with the Arabic Wikimedia Community Sudan User Group Hosted an online meeting where we shared the ongoing initiatives to improve the Content about Sudan in both Arabic and English Wikipedia.

Mailing and meetings with the Swedish Embassy and the Zain Telecommunication Company for the supporting and facilitation of the WikiGap campaign

Planning and launching of the WikiGap 2021 the second round of the community organizing the Global Campaign Wiki Gap to bridge the Gender Gap. Launching celebration event was held at the Swedish Ambassador residence, the prizes of the WikiGap 2020 winners were delivered by the Ambassador for the three winners

April 2021

A two-days’ workshop under for the WikiGap2021 project was held for 11 participants with the support of the Swedish Embassy and Zain Telecommunication Company

Sudan for the first time helped in organizing the global campaign Wikimedia Pages Wants Pictures which targets both Wikipedia and Wiki Commons Project.
