Increase in user talk pages activity in August 2006
[edit]There is a huge increase in user talk pages activity in August 2006. What is the reason for this? Is there a bot that we haven't identified yet? Was there a significant policy change?
I believe this may be related to the use of substitution on each of the "Welcome" templates, increasing considerably the number of bytes in the wikitext. For details see:

Please notice that the "size of the wiki code" of a page can be completely different from the size of the resulting "text", and also different from the values of other measures for the "size of a page". For more about this, see:
