Add topicVisibility of red links?
[edit]I came here from the summary. One remaining question is how visible are the red links? That is, what percentage of the links a user comes across are red links? This gets at how obvious it is, to a reader, which articles are needed/requested. In particular, have style guidelines regarding red links changed over time? Data are skewed by users who systematically remove redlinks
[edit]On English Wikipedia, the number of redlinks has been greatly reduced in the last couple of years by cadres of wikignomes who have been aggressively removing redlinks. That is, they systematically remove links to topics that do not have articles. There seems to be a perception that redlinks are errors that need to be expunged. On occasion, when I've restored redlinks, I've found that it induces edit-warring with users who are convinced that redlinks are contrary to policy. --Orlady 13:48, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
- People are very useless if the only way they can "help" is removing redlinks. Damn. Emijrp 14:12, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
