Research talk:Machine Learning Assisted Wikipedia Editing
Add topicEven without the ML-assist, this could be a fact checking tool prototype
[edit]I played the game following Wiki-research-l request.
In several iterations it suggested sources but I was not able to verify the claim in the presented text. Every time it told me that Wikipedia was using the source to verify the claim.
I cannot speak for this tool's ability to recommend new sources but the interface could be a tool for fact checking existing sources. We do not currently have a double check system like this. Bluerasberry (talk) 17:22, 31 May 2022 (UTC)
- So I did about a dozen different sources - a small number of which I then took onwiki - and I agree with Bluerasberry that it's far better at identifying a failure to verify the original statement than to suggest a good replacement. But that alone is still of use. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 03:13, 12 July 2022 (UTC)

Clarification on recent press on this project
[edit]Hi, Maryana Pinchuk from the Wikimedia Foundation Partnerships team here. A recent Meta blog post on the Sphere project appears to have generated some confusing/misleading press – the blog post has now been updated to reflect that this project is not a partnership between WMF and Meta, and that this model is not live on Wikipedia or being used to automatically update any content and is still in the research phase. We’re working with Meta to clarify the details in the press to more accurately reflect the nature and status of this work. If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch here or email us at partnershipswikimedia.org. Thanks! MPinchuk (WMF) (talk) 16:57, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you. I'm surprised that I can't find any discussions or articles about Sphere on Wikipedia or other Wikimedia projects. RockOfVictory (talk) 18:39, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
