[edit]Continued readings about authority. Found the following paper to be a good starting point:
- Rieh, Soo Young (2002). "Judgment of information quality and cognitive authority in the web". Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology 53 (2): 145–161.
The concept of cognitive authority appears to be very useful. Looks like I'll have to read the following book if I want to understand it better:
- Wilson, P. (1983). Second-hand knowledge: An inquiry into cognitive authority. Greenwood Press.
I'm thinking there's also a need to add in something about authority in the political sense, in other words around the power of definition and execution. On the web, are authoritative pages the ones that give the definite answer? Worth thinking about.
