Research:Geolinguistic analysis

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Geolinguistic analysis generally refers the analysis of a Wikimedia project from the combined perspective of geography and language. Open collaboration communities like Wikipedia depend on users' literacy and knowledge, both of which have lingusitic and geographic dimensions. In particular, different language versions of Wikipedia further depend on the content availability as encyclopedia articles depend on using published sources. Thus, geolinguistic analysis often demands researchers to consider the different level of achievement by users (or groups of users) with different geographic and linguistic features (or geolingusitic profiles).
