This language has been verified as eligible. The language is eligible for a project, which means that the subdomain can be created once there is an active community and a localized interface, as described in the language proposal policy. You can discuss the creation of this language project on this page. Once the criteria are met, the language committee can proceed with the approval. If you think the criteria are met, but the project is still waiting for approval, feel free to notify the committee and ask them to consider its approval. |
- The community needs to develop an active test project; it must remain active until approval (automated statistics, recent changes). It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months.
- The community needs to complete required MediaWiki interface translations in that language (about localization, translatewiki, check completion).
- The community needs to discuss and complete the settings table below:

Discussion
[edit]Arguments in favour
[edit]- Mingrelian is a Kartvelian language spoken in Western Georgia. It is included in UNESCO’s list of Endangered Languages. Wikimedia projects will allow to native speaker community to contribute to revitalization of Mingrelian language.
- This project is a very Important AS a part of revitalization of Mingrelian language.
Arguments against
[edit]- I don't think it is a good idea at the moment. Since there is a number of messages of extensions untranslated and xmf.wiki isn't created yet, I think you are in a hurry. So I propose closing this request immediately. –BruTe talk 07:09, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
- xmf.wiki have been created. We are working also to translate all mediawiki messages. Thanks. Kilavagora 01:49, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
- Per Brute. -- Dferg ☎ talk 16:29, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
- I appreciate the enthusiasm, but I don't think it is wise to open two projects in short succession and thus divert resources (e.g. small editor-base). I suggest you guys work in the wikipedia and come back when you've reached a certain size and modus operandi. Seb az86556 04:03, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
- There is a long way until all mediawiki messages will be translated and language committee will start to consider it. No one hopes that it will be accepted any soon. But I don't see any contradiction why shouldn't I open just proposal. At least it could be verified as eligible. That's one step forward. And yes, editor base is not large, but it's enough to maintain wiktionary as well. Kilavagora 05:59, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
Other discussion
[edit]- Would you be starting from scratch, or do you have some content (key glossaries, etc.) handy and ready to go upon the creation of this wiki? Almafeta 10:13, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
- The main source will be electronic dictionary mentioned in above links and word list from there. There are also some other printed dictionaries published recently. Kilavagora 14:53, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
