This proposal has been rejected. While this request has technically been rejected, in reality this is a request that has been sitting open or on hold for a long time with little evidence of a community coming together to build a project. If a community comes together in the future and makes a new request, LangCom would consider that new request without prejudice. A committee member provided the following comment: In theory can be eligible. But in 6+ years no content has been added to Wikisource. So we're going to assume that someone added this because of its ISO code (www), and not because there is real substance to the proposal. (Also, see below: it's unlikely there's much, if any, content available for it.) You need to specify the parameter "category" for Wikisources and Wikiversities.
- The community needs to develop an active test project; it must remain active until approval (automated statistics). It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months.
- The community needs to complete required MediaWiki interface translations in that language (about localization, translatewiki, check completion).
- The community needs to discuss and complete the settings table below:

[edit]- I don't think this language really has many written works, if any. Also, www.something is taken by the respective portal page, so creating any Wikimedia wiki in this language currently isn't possible due to technical reasons. -- Prince Kassad 21:23, 31 March 2011 (UTC)
- It has many written works, though they are not easy to find outside of Cameroon. Www is the language code so I think it is important that the Wikisource have that address. The portal can be at portal.wikisource.org perhaps? April Regina 21:26, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

- I emailed SIL and someone else also contacted them. It is likely that a different language code will be assigned for Wawa. Then the problem of 'www' will be solved. SPQRobin (talk) 12:27, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

- There don't seem to be any Wawa texts at Multilingual Wikisource; at least oldwikisource:Category:Wawa is a red link. The language committee will want to see activity there from multiple users, including at least one native speaker, before the request can be approved. Antony D. Green 07:28, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

- Nice idea. It's always good to spend a wiki-project to an African language, no matter how many texts there are. I presume that the stated written texts are all newer than 50 years. So, someone may bring the argument of copyright. Meanwhile article 67 of Cameroon copyright law allows the use of copyrighted material if it's done for education purposes. May you find enough partners! UJung 20:10, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
- Well without public domain or free licensed texts, there's not much that could actually be hosted on this project. Even if copyrighted texts are allowed for educational use, that doesn't constitute a free license, and I'm not sure we would be able to host them on a Wikisource project.
