Requests for new languages/Wikisource Mauritian Creole

The community needs to develop an active test project; it must remain active until approval (automated statistics). It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months.
The community needs to complete required MediaWiki interface translations in that language (about localization, translatewiki, check completion).

Settings
Project name	Wikisource	"Wikisource" in your language
Project namespace	Wikisource	usually the same as the project name
Project talk namespace	Discussion:	"Wikisource talk" (the discussion namespace of the project namespace)
Enable uploads	no	Default is "no". Preferably, files should be uploaded to Commons. If you want, you can enable local file uploading, either by any user ("yes") or by administrators only ("admin"). Notes: (1) This setting can be changed afterwards. The setting can only be "yes" or "admin" at approval if the test creates an Exemption Doctrine Policy (EDP) first. (2) Files on Commons can be used on all Wikis. (3) Uploading fair-use images is not allowed on Commons (more info). (4) Localisation to your language may be insufficient on Commons.
Optional settings
Project logo		This needs to be an SVG image (instructions for logo creation).
Default project timezone	Etc/GMT-4	"Continent/City", e.g. "Europe/Brussels" or "America/Mexico City" (see list of valid timezones)
Additional namespaces	"Page", "Discussion Page", "Livre", "Discussion Livre"	For example, a Wikisource would need "Page", "Page talk", "Index", "Index talk", "Author", "Author talk".

Once settings are finalized, a committee member will submit a Phabricator task requesting creation of the wiki. (This will include everything automatically, except the additional namespaces/settings.) After the task is created, it should be linked to in a comment under "final decision" above.

Proposal

In this page Wikisource:Scriptorium/Mai 2017 (in french), I talk about a book written half in french, half in Mauritian Creole. I would create two version of this book, one in s:fr:Livre:Baissac - Le Folk-lore de l’Île-Maurice, 1888.djvu, an other in s:mfe:Livre:Baissac - Le Folk-lore de l’Île-Maurice, 1888.djvu, but s:mfe, doesn't existe so I want to create this. --Newnewlaw (talk) 17:10, 29 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Newnewlaw: See the comment by User:VIGNERON on French Wikisource (at your link above) dated 27 mai 2017 à 10:34 (UTC). It's not clear whether you need to create this book in two places. But if you want to do so, the place to start with a Mauritian Creole Wikisource is on oldwikisource. (I can help you set up the infrastructure, if you'd like.) An independent Mauritian Creole Wikisource project will not be created unless there is a community at oldwikisource regularly creating and maintaining content in that language. @Newnewlaw and StevenJ81: when a wikisource already exist it could be use to store the part in its language but it's not mandatory (althought it is commonly considered a good pratice). Nonetheless, it could still be a good idea to jmpstart this wikisource, but we should gather some scans (I didn't find books on the Internet yet, just this dictionary on Internet Archive) and some people first. @VIGNERON: I made a further edit over there to support you. But the problem with that is that right now, the standing "official" name of the language is "Morisyen", per translatewiki:Portal:Mfe. I could change that, and maybe you could, too. But frankly this probably requires some discussion somewhere, maybe at the Wp/mfe test on Incubator. StevenJ81 (talk) 19:41, 29 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@StevenJ81: I will look into it but I'll need some time to understand correctly and to be sure how orthograph works in mfe (and apparently there was a reform in 2011, that change morisyen - the use of the y for the semivowel is beautiful here - into morisien).
