This language has been verified as eligible. The language is eligible for a project, which means that the subdomain can be created once there is an active community and a localized interface, as described in the language proposal policy. You can discuss the creation of this language project on this page. Once the criteria are met, the language committee can proceed with the approval and will verify the test project content with a reliable neutral source, such as a professor or expert. If you think the criteria are met, but the project is still waiting for approval, feel free to notify the committee and ask them to consider its approval. |
- The community needs to develop an active test project; it must remain active until approval (automated statistics, recent changes). It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months.
- The community needs to complete required MediaWiki interface translations in that language (about localization, translatewiki, check completion).
- The community needs to discuss and complete the settings table below:

Arguments in favour
[edit]- Support. --Dacxiri 19:07, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
- Support: Native speakers of Laz have the competency and willingness to contribute to this project in the long-term. Hence the Laz language deserves to be given the opportunity and priviledge to have its own language edition of Wikipedia along with the existing South Caucasian languages such as Georgian, Armenian and so on. --Jose77 22:46, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

- Support But what kind of alphabet you are going to use for Laz language - Georgian or Latin?--Pandukht 20:45, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
- Laz language is written in Georgian alphabet or in Turkish version of Latin. But most of Lazs (%90) are living in Turkey and they dont know Georgian alphabet so firstly we will use latin alphabet then i will try to work for latin-georgian converter here [[1]]. By the way thanks for your support. --Dacxiri 02:45, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

Arguments against
[edit]- Not supporting --Dkurashvili 08:47, 11 March 2010 (UTC) I think Laz language is dead and there is no use of wikipedia in this language. Also the number of speakers 250.000 given above comes in contradiction with Laz language article, where just 33.250 is given for 1981.
- Laz language is living, not dead, a lot of people are using it in their lifes. Also, We cant say the true number of speakers because there isnt ethnic people counting or ethnic language counting in Turkey. Just read more about Laz and Laz language and please dont comment if you dont know anything, this is important project for Laz language. --Dacxiri 17:16, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
- I do know Laz language. But I think you need more arguments, at least more accurate number of native speakers. Good luck, nevertheless. --Dkurashvili 10:02, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
