Outcome[edit]
Please report on your original project targets. Please be sure to review and provide metrics required for Rapid Grants.
Target outcome | Achieved outcome | Explanation |
30 Participants | 32 Participants | Although we received a higher interest, we stuck to our target for proper management. |
5 Participants | 6 Participants | We had six new participants. |
100 articles created or improved | 8236 articles created or improved | We went far beyond the target because of the dedication of the participants and their active participation. |
Learning[edit]
Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well? The use of active WhatsApp groups within the community proved to be an effective means of communication with the participants, ensuring their engagement and involvement in the project. The team of experienced Wikimedia editors who led the training and editathon played a crucial role in the success of the project. Their expertise and knowledge-sharing contributed to a productive and educational experience for the participants. The project's metrics tracking and the creation of a dedicated dashboard allowed for real-time monitoring of participant contributions and helped identify areas that required additional support
- What did not work so well? An unexpected issue arose during the project when an IP block temporarily disrupted the participation of new editors. However, this issue was later rectified, and measures were put in place to prevent similar disruptions in the future.
- What would you do differently next time? We would explore additional outreach strategies, such as collaborating with local media outlets or community leaders to reach a wider audience and ensure that more users are aware of the Wikimedia User Group Nigeria and its activities. We would also proactively address any technical issues, like the IP block, by having a clear plan in place to resolve such disruptions promptly and prevent their recurrence in future projects.
