Punjabi Wikimedians/Events/Wikidata Birthday Meetup 2024
The Punjabi Wikimedians User Group has proposed an event to celebrate Wikidata’s 12th birthday. Community members are organizing a one-day in-person datathon (part of 5 week online datathon) focused on creating and improving Wikidata items related to india. Additionally the goal of the meetup will be to encourage more Wikimedians to contribute to Wikidata.

- Welcome and Introduction
Tulspal warmly welcomed all participants and explained the significance of the meeting. Participants introduced themselves, sharing their backgrounds and interests. After that she Introduced all the participants about wikidata's birthday project. Link.
- Wikidata Basic Editing and Demonstration
Satdeep Gill explained why Wikidata is important and demonstrated how to edit on it. Then, Tulspal gave tasks to the participants using the TABernacle tool to help them practice and apply what they had learned.

Participants shared their questions and challenges, leading to a group problem-solving session. This exchange of ideas helped build a supportive community.
- Projects Contribution Review
Satdeep Gill and other Punjabi Wikimedians used a projector to review and improve contributions to Wikisource and Wikidata, enhancing data quality.
- Disscusion regarding punjabi wikisource's books and proofread Tasks
- Wikisource-Wikidata Project Work
After the discussion Satdeep introduced some old books from Wikisource, including the Catalogues of the Punjabi Books [1]. Tulspal created a new item for one of these books and explained the process of creating a wikidata item from scratch to everyone. The participants showed enthusiasm for working on this project.
- Conclusion
The meeting celebrated the 12th birthday of Wikidata. It was a great chance for new and experienced members to come together, share ideas, and get ready for future activities like Data-a-thons. The excitement and participation of everyone created a positive atmosphere for the Punjabi Wikipedia community.
