Arguments in favour
Arguments against
Now this is going to be a surprise. Yes, Siberian Wikisource is basically the same texts as the now closed Wikipedia. The reason why the project should not be closed and a number of texts should remain and be frozen is that on many wikipedias, a good number of contributors still cannot be convinced that the project was a joke and that they were duped by a hoax (though Zolotaryov has admitted as much recently) so people who want those articles deleted or brought to standard need arguments to prove what this project was. Please keep the Hamlet article, please keep the svolotch. It is actually in the interest of the Wikimedia community to keep this as a sort of negative monument. If this may be an argument to keep the evidence: Dutch and Ukrainian wikipedia have already whitelisted volgota.com (and consequently Wikislavia). --Paul Pieniezny 22:38, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
- O dear, I have just noted, from the discussion about the deletion that Zolotaryov copied things to sib.volgota.com. That is not really a good alternative, as it is on the spamlist - and rightly so. Besides, Zolotaryov can change things there at will, and he will do that, as I have seen very close collaboration between him and some of the Siberian supporters at Dutch wiki: you may be sure that when an opponent quotes a particular ru:sib article, in an argument on a delete or re-name, Zolotaryov will not hesitate to change the contents. However, it also seems to be archived here. If it remains there, and the svolotch I mentioned above indeed stays there, I withdraw my objection and full-heartedly support the deletion. --Paul Pieniezny 08:55, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- Hi there, this crap is far too insignificant to continue having arguments over it. What is the point in kicking this dead horse? Even Zolotaryov himself doesn't appear to give a damn. Look at the recent changes of his Wiki Zoo. They are all basically dead. Apart from that, the former Siberian Category (oldwikisource:Category:Siberian) has now been empty, all "Siberian" texts have been deleted.--Johannes Rohr 18:33, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
General discussion
It's a test project on the multilingual wikisource, why should this go through the closure procedures? The admins of oldwikisource have been told about the status of Siberian language and texts, and have deleted some already. Let them handle this... Teak 15:10, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- Good point. We cannt close a project which has never opened ... --Aphaia 15:20, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
