Proposals for closing projects/Closure of Esperanto Wikinews

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

This is a proposal for closing and/or deleting a wiki hosted by the Wikimedia Foundation. It is subject to the current closing projects policy.

The proposal for closing n:eo: is rejected and the project will be kept open.

  • A Language Committee member provided the following comment:
Speedy closure: I consider this discussion "harmful, with no reasonable possibility of a decision to close the wiki". The activity on the eo.wikinews community portal shows the project is not "dead inactive". Also, a closing proposal is not the way to solve content or personal disputes. --MF-W 16:21, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Dead inactive project, no activities, no any new articles, without active user community. Many pro-Russian military propagandist articles----Fenikals (talk) 12:19, 17 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

It should be noted that the proponent has been in a long-time conflict with another Wikimedian, which has got very personal and is now difficult to judge neutrally. This proposal seems to be a part of it and an effort to forcefully stop one person by cancelling a whole project. Blahma (talk) 07:02, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • I am surprised by the proposal. Firstly, because it was never discussed within the community itself, nor were there any calls for increasing participation in the project. And secondly, because Vikinovaĵoj has always maintained even a small level of activity. It may not be the most active project but it has managed to sustain itself over time with peaks of activity here and there when a user adopts it. --Sahaquiel9102 (talk) 16:08, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Edits are up recently; seems a poor moment to make this proposal. –SJ talk  03:32, 28 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
