Proposals for closing projects/Closure of Divehi Wiktionary

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

The result of the following proposal for closing a WMF project is to KEEP the project. Please, do not modify this page.

The following discussion is closed: The project to be kept per consensus. —§ stay (sic)! 19:10, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I propose closure of Divehi Wiktionary. This project is inactive, has almost no edits and a lot of vandalism is found in the pages. Thus I nominate it for closure. Pmlineditor 08:12, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This request for closure has been withdrawn. Thanks to those who have voted. 204.108.96.24 19:19, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Project is not inactive [1], [2], if one finds vandalism in pages the logical step would be to remove it. Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 09:58, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  2. I agree with Birdy, the project is not inactive. Its that contributors are less, and for contributors in local wiki does not have time to work on both projects..--Glacious 17:29, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  3. It is the Wiktionary of a language which has less than even half million native speakers. So it shouldn't be expected it to be edited once in every second. Divehi is the official language of the Maldives. I don't think an established project of an official language should be closed. Since in future also there will be need for it. So why we close it, if we might have to re open it. I strongly oppose. Deviathan 19:43, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  4. It lives. It's not the most vibrant wiki I've seen, but it lives. Unlike a Wikinews, which has to be current, and a Wikipedia, which will get snowed under by changes eventually, it's a tradition for a dictionary to take forever. The first edition of the OED took 44 years and the Deutsches Wörterbuch 123. We can wait a little longer to stand in judgment on this project.--Prosfilaes 17:03, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  5. Does not appear to be inactive. Nakon 00:23, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  7. Oppose. It's not really inactive. --RubiksMaster110 07:15, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  8. Oppose Not enough substantial merit that proves inactiveness. Ali Rana 13:03, 24 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Compare to Wiktionaries of other languages, rather I say mega languages like Bengali, Oriya and Punjabi, Divehi wiktionaries statistics are better. Please see: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/List_of_Wiktionaries Deviathan 19:58, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed the link you provided. Anyway, in a place with so little activity, the message should ideally be either on the main page or as a banner all over the place. --80.5.88.40 15:34, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
A notice was also added in dv.wikipedia: here. Regards. --80.5.88.40 15:39, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
