Pilot Project
[edit]The pilot-scale testing of the WikiDepth Project will be applied to Bikol Wikipedia. Monitoring of depth in Bikol Wikipedia with consequent data analysis will be discussed within a time frame. Outcomes of the Pilot project will be used on how to further improve the approach to the objectives and the feasibility of the application to other Wikipedia editions.
After the initial trial, the project will look further to extend the initiative to other Philippine language-based Wikipedia editions like Chavacano Zamboangueño Wikipedia, Kapampangan Wikipedia, Waray Wikipedia, and Cebuano Wikipedia.
Data Monitoring
[edit]As a background, Bikol Wikipedia has a depth of ~8.1 and no. of articles of ~10,600 at the start of year 2021. It experienced significant decrease on March 2021, an estimate within the range of 7.5 to 8.0, due to the large number of article creations with the WikiGap Philippines 2021. Bikol Wikipedia also reached 11,000 articles in this period. By July 2021, the WPWP Campaign and the deletion of ~300 articles brought the depth to ~9.1. On August 2021, Bikolano wikipedians started to classify articles into a specific WikiProyekto project through Talk pages. Thus by the end of August 2021, Bikol Wikipedia reached a depth of 10. Adding to that, depth of 11 by the late September and depth of 12 by the late October.
