scope[edit]

  • Encourage the participants about the involvement in various sister projects of Wikimedia.
  • Empowering the participants with new skills to work in wiki projects in regional language.

Goals[edit]

  • Make aware about wikimedia.
  • Some new editors will join with editing skills in Assamese wikimedia projects.

Responsibility[edit]

  • Publicity.
  • Hands on training and guidance to make the participants a skilled wiki Editor.

  • 9:15 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. -Introductory speech
  • 10:00 am to 10:15 am -How to create an account on Wikipedia.
  • 10:15 am to 10:00 am -How to upload photos to WikiCommons.
  • 11:00 a.m. -11:15 a.m. -Tea-break.
  • 11:15 am to 12:30 pm -Editing on Wikiquote.
  • 12:30pm to 01:00pm - Q&A
  • 01:00 to 02:00 pm -Meal break
  • 02:00 to 04:00 pm -Split into two groups, editing training on Wikisource and Wikipedia by two resource persons at the same time.
  • 04:00 pm to 04:30 pm -Questions from the participants.
  • 04:30 pm -Thanksgiving to the institution. (Nagaon College)

On 30th April,2024 an Awareness cum Workshop of Assamese Wikimedia was held at Nowgong Collage Lakshminath Bezbarua auditorium under the banner of She Leads of Center for Internet and Society Access To Knowledge. The moto of this program was to publish about the Projects of Assamese Wikimedia and inclusion of more and more female contributors to these activities. Because, as a whole, number of female contributors in Assamese Wikimedia are very poor. Wikimedian Pranamika Ahikary arrange the program with full co operation of Assamese Department of the collage. More than 70 participants were present and the Workshop was successful one. Pranamika Adhikary, Rumi Bora and Jyoti Chiring, the active Assamese Wikimedians took part in the workshop as resource persons and trained the participants how to edit in the Assamese Wikipedia and in its sister projects such as wikisource, wikiquote, wikicommons etc. Dr. Ranjit Majinder, the Principal of Nowgong Collage, in his speech explains about the importance of Assamese Wikipedia. Besides this, Dhanada Devi, Rupanjali Devi Professor of Assamese Department narrated very nicely about the workshop and advised the participants to join and provide active participation to this worldwide intellectual Movement.
