Movement roles/Working group meeting 2010-10-15
Appearance
The working group met on 15 October, 2010, via conference call.
The goal of the call was to discuss the outcome of the work done at the WMF Board meeting, and how that affected the project's next steps.
Jon Huggett gave a brief overview of his prepared agenda, and made a quick note of the upcoming meetings.
Samuel Klein brought up the issue of transparency, expressing concern over the use of private wikis and mailing lists. An extensive discussion ensued, briefly summarized as follows:
- Do we need a private workspace at all?
- For a process that's meant to be open and transparent, this is distasteful for some and, more practically, could hinder participation.
- Plans had already been made to open this space up to people outside the working group, and could be expanded even further.
Due to a technical issue, the call terminated prematurely after roughly 50 minutes, before a final resolution was achieved. The individual questions were later addressed in other discussions.
