Movement Strategy in Africa Great Lakes Phase II

Invest in Leadership skills Development

This document contains the introduction of MSIG phase 2 road map the communities of DRC ,Rwanda and Burundi comes together drive leadership and skills development in the Great Lakes Region for Future audience

The phase 2 of the movement strategy in Africa great lakes will focus on the leadership and skills development where adapted trainings and workshops will be organised beyond the existing platforms and make sure the future audiences approach is implemented to catch the youthful potential contributors.

The targets, the outcomes and the impact are discussed by the community in Africa great lakes and shared platforms enable collaboration in basic and necessary skills to on board new members in our communities

the project will reach various communities where the preliminary survey will give insights about the potential beneficiaries , their willingness to contribute to wikimedia projects and their specific skills gaps.

La phase 2 de la stratégie du mouvement en Afrique des Grands Lacs se concentrera sur le développement du leadership et des compétences. Des formations et des ateliers adaptés seront organisés au-delà des plateformes existantes et veilleront à ce que l'approche des futurs publics soit mise en œuvre afin d'attirer les jeunes contributeurs potentiels.

Les objectifs, les résultats et l'impact sont discutés par la communauté d'Africa Great Lakes et les plateformes partagées permettent la collaboration dans les compétences de base et nécessaires pour intégrer de nouveaux membres dans nos communautés.

Le projet atteindra diverses communautés où l'enquête préliminaire donnera un aperçu des bénéficiaires potentiels, de leur volonté de contribuer aux projets Wikimedia et de leurs lacunes en matière de compétences spécifiques.

Wikidata Workshop

Background

This workshop is designed to empower the Great Lakes region Wikimedia community to actively contribute to and benefit from Wikidata, the free and open knowledge base. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of Wikidata's core concepts, tools, and best practices, enabling them to confidently create, edit, and query data. The training will foster a collaborative learning environment where participants can share their knowledge, learn from experienced Wikidata editors, and contribute to building a vibrant and knowledgeable community in the Great Lakes region.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the fundamental concepts of Wikidata and its role in the Semantic Web.
  • Confidently navigate and edit Wikidata items, properties, and statements.
  • Utilize SPARQL to query Wikidata and extract meaningful information.
  • Evaluate data quality and contribute to improving the accuracy and completeness of Wikidata.
  • Collaborate effectively with other editors through Wikidata WikiProjects and community platforms.
  • Apply their Wikidata skills to enhance Wikimedia projects and other knowledge initiatives in the Great Lakes region.
