Don't protect

Unregistered users need to edit Meta:Babel. Most people come from other wikis and don't want to have to log in separately to meta just to join the discussion. It's easier to revert one annoying user than to make everyone log in. So, I've unprotected this page. Angela 16:49, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

And now someone protected it; "yay". 68.39.174.238 22:32, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
Clarification: the page is only protected in so far that only administrators can move the page; as far as editing goes, anyone (anons included) can make comments. EVula // talk // 04:32, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Hello Admin

Can you delete the Template at Template:Projects; I took it out from some page, but I cannot delet the template. Thank you. The content is with absolutely no relation to meta. --160.85.2.50 11:25, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

That was a vandal. I reverted it; thank you. --.anaconda 11:32, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Help with multiple languages and special messages

Hi, I am an admin on wikispecies. I am working with one of our folks to add Ukrainian as an option to the login page, but I am not sure how to do it. Can someone please help me? Thanks --Open2universe 00:40, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

I think this is the site you are looking to change: http://species.wikimedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Loginlanguagelinks --Steinninn 01:04, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Maybe you should have the same list as commons. --Steinninn 01:05, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Thank you, that was it. I will probably use the same list as commons, but first I think I need to bring in the individual language pages. Thanks again for your help. --Open2universe 16:58, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
I wonder how they got this to work, because as far as I can see, this works only on meta and commons all other wikiprojects do not have multilingual logins although they have some languages in MediaWiki:Loginlanguagelinks
Please does anyone know how to activate this feature, it would be great for other projects too, many thanks in advance, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 12:24, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
I don't think it's of much use on other wikis. It's mainly on commons and meta because these are multi language projects. --Steinninn 14:51, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Wikispecies is also a multi language project. --Open2universe 16:58, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
I think Steinninn was pointing out that, aside from all the mentioned projects (Wikispecies, Commons, and Meta), everything else has a dedicated language for it (English Wikipedia, Polish Wikisource, German Wikinews, etc). This feature wouldn't be helpful for many of the projects outside those three. Maybe Test Wiki, or the Incubator could use it as well, though. EVula // talk // 04:29, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Incivility?

Is there a procedure for dealing with a user who is showing incivility in discussions? User:Elephas's contributions to the discussion about the proposal for closing the Volapük Wikipedia are unusally belligerant and offensive (including words like 'vomit', 'fart' etc. to offend the language in question). His or her behavior in other discussions is also belligerant: he or she tends to belittle the language community and the language itself with very strong words (just click on some of his contribs). Yet his or her behavior in the Volapük discussion is worse than usual. Maybe a message could be sent to him or her to indicate that this behavior is frowned upon? --Smeira 00:39, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
