As a Wikimedia Deutschland staff member I frequently create and edit project pages on meta (e.g Wikimedia Europe, WIKIMOVE). To ensure equity and transparency, I would like to be able to mark these pages for translation. --Eva Martin (WMDE) (talk) 13:51, 22 July 2022 (UTC)

- Ugh, another self-directed tadmin request when that really isn't what is needed.
Support anyway. * Pppery * it has begun 18:09, 30 July 2022 (UTC) - @Eva Martin (WMDE): Have you read mw:Help:Extension:Translate/Page translation administration? --Ameisenigel (talk) 09:59, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
- Support since I have read Lea's comment --Ameisenigel (talk) 09:36, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose for now: I have noted some issues with translate unit segmentation in your edits. Please look at internationalization guidelines and prepare a page for translation complying with these guidelines. --Pols12 (talk) 23:33, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose per Pols12/still no response to their inquiry from 4 August. ~~~~

[edit]Hello there! I'm the one who encouraged Eva to do this request, and I'm onboarding her with the subtleties of the translation extension. I will make sure that she reads the documentation and we will work together on the new pages she creates with translation.
@Pols12: Can you tell us more about the issues you noticed, so we know where to focus our attention?
@Pppery: I'm curious to know why you think that this request was not needed - is there a better way to allow someone to autonomously prepare and mark documentation pages for translation, without having the admin rights? Lea Lacroix (WMDE) (talk) 08:57, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
- I'm not saying this request specifically was not needed. I'm saying that, generically, self-directed translation admin requests are not what's needed because they merely paper over the problem of having too few community-directed translation admins. That is, I want Meta to be like MediaWiki.org where Shirayuki handles nearly all pages needing translation marking and everyone can just let him do so rather than needing to request translation admin rights for themselves. But Meta is clearly not in that state right now, so I supported this request. * Pppery * it has begun 14:56, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
- I would like Eva to prepare a page for translation, complying with our recommendations. These edits, as an example, mess the translate markup up. --Pols12 (talk) 12:47, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
Not done - no reply from the requestor to multiple questions after more than a month. --MF-W 12:43, 27 August 2022 (UTC)
