Meta:Requests for translation adminship/Buszmail

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki
The following discussion is preserved as an archive of a closed Meta-Wiki request. Please do not modify it.

I have extensively translated into the TAGALOG language the entirety of the Movement Charter drafts through their versions. I have also translated and will continue to translate other ongoing Meta-Wiki pages in support of the Movement Charter Ambassadors Program, Wikimania, and AffCom. I would like to request Translation adminship to prepare for translation other Meta-Wiki pages, from ESEAP and my own multi-lingual country — the Philippines. For your favorable accommodation. --Buszmail (talk) 14:37, 11 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dear @Buszmail, please prepare any page for translation and link it here. If you properly prepare it, we will surely support your granting. -- Pols12 (talk) 18:47, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Dear @Pols12, my sincere apologies for the inadvertent delay of my response. I had been so occupied with my ongoing activities this week in AffCom and my Movement Charter Ambassadorship (soon to conclude) other than my regular commitments with the ESEAP Hub Preparatory Council. I had actually been on standby in my talk pages in enwiki and meta, not realizing I should login here for the update. Once again, my honest and very sincere apologies. May I appeal for reconsideration? Buszmail (talk) 02:27, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Buszmail:, please do so - prepare the page for translation and let us know. Leaderboard (talk) 15:53, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dear @everyone, I worked on the page and improved on it. I have much to thank you for. Please review my work if it complies now with the guidelines. --Buszmail (talk) 20:00, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There are several markup issues:
  • It is useless to close a translate tag before opening a new one when there is an empty line which separates units.
  • For template, we should only make the content text translatable, avoiding template name and config param values to be translatable (thanks to tvar or closing translata appropriately).
  • We should not exclude a part of a sentence from translate tag. We can eventually use tvar if we want to avoid some part to be translatable, but some translators may want to transliterate proper names.
  • You miss languages tag which allows to add language bar.
  • Some content would miss from internationalized content (e.g. in infobox).
  • We should exclude non-textual images from translatable content.

Dear @everyone, I admittedly have bitten off more than I could chew. Actually, my original intention was merely to enable translation of my own community page and related pages, into our own local dialects (e.g. Tagalog, Bicol Central, Pangasinan). Foreign language translations beyond, if so, would have just been bonuses. I marginally sought help from translation admins in my part of the world, unsuccessfully, so I sought to do it on my own, albeit hoping to learn by rote. Please accept my apologies for this premature translation admin request, which I now wish to withdraw. I thank everyone here for the kindness and augmentation to my knowledge. -- Buszmail (talk)
