- Hello, I’d like to request translation adminship here on Meta. I am already experienced with translatewiki.net and Translate extension. Since many years I'm doing French translations on several Wikimedia projects, and more recently on Wikimedia official blog. I just came back from Wikimania Hong Kong where I met Matthew Roth and I was very interrested with the second part of his presentation: "Wikimedia blog, with particular focus on the editor profiles and multilingual content".
So basically, I'd like to do more translation so that the content can be read by a wider audience. Thank you for considering, Benoit Rochon (talk) 14:42, 14 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Have you read the docs about TAship? Could you provide examples of pages that you're tagged and going to mark then? --Base (talk) 16:05, 14 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Sure. I tagged few pages in the past, but more recently I did tag Francocoop and CentralNotice; I'm planning to translate all CN subpages. There is also 16 pages marked for translation, where I can sure help. Benoit Rochon (talk) 18:31, 14 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Are you sure Francocoop is tagged per documentation? Tagging it's not just opening tag at the top and closing at the bottom. Markup should be avoided in translate units save some definite cases like =s in headers - you have terrible table markup to scarify translators inside translatable block. Headers should be as separate units from text to allow translators translate them first (many including me like such an order while translating). Templates that put whole section should be avoided in units. Reread docs for TAs please more carefully. Unfortunately I from mobile can't neither give you direct links to docs or nicely tagged examples nor fix markup there on my own. I hope others will provide the links. --Base (talk) 13:25, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Any more opinions on this one? -Barras talk 20:50, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- I'd like to hear nominee's answer to my question. I want to be sure that s{0,1}he realy knows what s{0,1}he does and would not add more work to current TAs by low-quality-tagging. --Base (talk) 21:38, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- I don't know if Base still wasn't able to edit this page from a non-mobile device to provide links, but it would be good if the candidate would confirm to have read and understood mw:Help:Extension:Translate/Page translation example and mw:Help:Extension:Translate/Page translation administration. Then there shouldn't be any problems. --MF-W 21:43, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Hi there! Sorry about delay of my answer, I'm away from home! Sure I don't want to add more work to other admins, but for some reasons I kept getting an error message, and I didn't had time to double check before today. I just found out what I was doing wrong; and you're right MF-W, the answer was in the example, but in English not the French translation... I'll fix the Fr tramslation when I'm back in Montreal!
- Be sure that my goal is to help making Meta more accessible for Francophones, not create more work for other admins. Have a nice day. Benoit Rochon (talk) 22:42, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Successfull - Since there are no real objections I will close this as successful. Please use the tool carefully. -Barras talk 13:11, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
