Please mark a page for translation

Dear colleagues! I translated the template {{Usurpation requested}}, but I see no link to translate its subpage {{Usurpation requested/Header}}. Translation administrators, please mark the subpage for translation, too. (I looked for a special page to ask translation administrators and found this one only. If there is a more suitable page for my request, please move it there.) Gamliel Fishkin 05:52, 7 September 2016 (UTC)

Not done Hello, that subpage is intentionally untranslated because it's for stewards and global renamers to use only. We only need the text of the template translated so we can copy-paste the translation to the user page. Thank you. —MarcoAurelio 07:59, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
Well, but what if the page is viewed by someone who absolutely does not understand the English language? Gamliel Fishkin 09:25, 7 September 2016 (UTC)

IP diapason block affected some users

On August 29, user Masti globally blocked the IP diapason 188.32.0.0/16 for six months, not only for anonymous users but for everyone. As a result, some registered users are not able to access wiki-projects. As a bureaucrat of ru-wiki, I received an email from one of such users, Heavy Horse. (I know his work, he is a well-trusted user.) For Heavy Horse we issued an IP exempt flag, but it is valid only in ru-wiki (and he also needs it at least for commons and en-wiki). The question: is it possible to re-apply this diapason block to anonymous users only? If not, how to deal with global rights of Heavy Horse and other users like him? I sent an email to user Masti about 9 hours ago but did not get any reply. Could anybody else help in such situation? Thanks and regards, — Adavyd (talk) 00:20, 11 September 2016 (UTC)

Hi. This page is for local Meta issues. The page where you should place the request for changing the global block is Steward requests/Global. -- Tegel (Talk) 00:36, 11 September 2016 (UTC)
Thanks! I moved this request to the appropriate page. — Adavyd (talk) 00:46, 11 September 2016 (UTC)

Page move deleted history

For some reason, page Copyright strategy/Issues was moved to Template:Copyright strategy/Issues/header and recreated by a copy-and-paste which has ended up with an incorrect page history and misdirected watchlists. Please could it be corrected? Rogol Domedonfors (talk) 15:46, 11 September 2016 (UTC)

User:Ата, maybe you can explain why this was done? --MF-W 22:59, 11 September 2016 (UTC)
For a minute I thought it was a nice way to separate translatable header from the comments saving the translations made. Forgot about it's impact on users' watchlists; please help correct it somehow. -- Ата (talk) 07:10, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
Both the template and main page cannot have the same revisions duplicated. So we could move the needed revisions currently in Template:Copyright strategy/Issues/header to Copyright strategy/Issues. Would that be okay? That seems like the best option here and is also how we usually have in other templatized headers. @JSutherland (WMF): In the future, please remember to keep translatable content in a separate page when a page is going to be used for discussion etc. This helps to avoid having to repeatedly mark for translation unnecessarily. Thanks, --Glaisher (talk) 08:39, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
Sure - that's an oversight on my part, apologies. Having it moved to the header page would make sense to retain the translations, though it looks like there aren't too many of those. I can copy the existing ones in Arabic over after a cleanup of revisions. Joe Sutherland (WMF) (talk) 16:59, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
Sorry - I should say, assuming that's what we actually want to do :) Would people be okay if I went ahead and cleaned this up? Joe Sutherland (WMF) (talk) 17:02, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
What I would like is to have the history of the page correctly reflect the contributions and to have the correct name of the page appear on my watchlist, please. Rogol Domedonfors (talk) 20:48, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
Thanks! Rogol Domedonfors (talk) 21:21, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
I've moved things back so everything should be sorted now. Again, sorry for neglecting that step beforehand. Joe Sutherland (WMF) (talk) 21:40, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
Thanks a lot for cleaning up, Joe --Ата (talk) 07:28, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

Is this worth a global lock?

Hi,

I blocked User:Turkeybutt JC on en.wiki a few days ago, and another admin later removed his en.wiki talk page access. He's been pinging me on here on Meta and on en.wikinews ever since. Any way to just block him for good and take away his ability to ping on all projects? Or do I need to turn off notifications for a while? If it is worth a global lock, I have no idea where the proper place to ask for that is, but this page seems a reasonable first step. --Floquenbeam (talk) 14:37, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

Globally locked & locked locally - though these requests are usually best placed on SRG. Savhñ 15:17, 13 September 2016 (UTC)
Thank you, both for the lock, and the pointer to where to go next time. --Floquenbeam (talk) 15:22, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

Title on the Main page

On some projects there is title dispayed on the Main Page (like s:de:) and on some there is not (like s:en:). I would like to remove it from s:sl:Main Page. --Janezdrilc (talk) 02:06, 17 September 2016 (UTC)

This is nothing we can do for you. See the MediaWiki FAQ for a CSS solution for this problem, which you could implement by yourself. --Vogone (talk) 05:01, 17 September 2016 (UTC)

CSS works. Thanks for a tip. --Janezdrilc (talk) 17:50, 17 September 2016 (UTC)

Requesting MassMessage sender rights

Hello! I would like to request MassMessage sender rights in order to send out Wikimedia Norge's newsletters on user talk pages. We have previously been sending them out via email, but we figure they will get higher visibility if we also post them on user talk pages for users who register for it. Jon Harald Søby (WMNO) (talk) 12:32, 21 September 2016 (UTC)

@Jon Harald Søby (WMNO): The Newsletters are on a opt-in basis? --Steinsplitter (talk) 15:15, 21 September 2016 (UTC)
@Steinsplitter: Yes, of course. :-) Jon Harald Søby (WMNO) (talk) 15:38, 21 September 2016 (UTC)

Verdy_p edit wars, again

Please advise verdy_p to continue the discussion before continuing to restore an incorrect bot edit of two weeks ago, caused by some edits of his. Note that I've only fixed one page until today because I fear verdy_p would otherwise start edit warring on dozens or hundreds of pages, but I'm ready to make things consistent again once the risk is eliminated. --Nemo 11:21, 27 September 2016 (UTC)

Was the problem solved? It looks like Verdy p didnt edit anymore since 24 Sept. --MF-W 01:25, 6 October 2016 (UTC)
