Hi, I'd be happy if the links in the mediawiki message above, which should point to the Swedish wiktionary and mailinglist, were changed to point to [[:sv:wikt:Special:Recentchanges|sv]] and to [https://mail.wikipedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikisv-l sv-l], respectively, as the present links does not work. Help contents

As noted on Babel please replace the protected Help:Contents by the fixed Help:Content (adding the missing moderator handbook), or maybe unprotect it: The protection is kind of pointless, even I'd know several ways to screw up the help system mutilating critical templates, and I'm new at this... ;-) -- Omniplex (w:t) 16:31, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

I have made Help:Contents now only semi-protected so you can now do what needs to done --Walter 18:54, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

Deleteme category

Is the deleteme category checked very often, at last look there was 58 articles in that category, with the speedy delete tag on :) Brian Wikinews / Talk 06:56, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

Emptied (seventeen articles in when I checked). I used to check quite frequently, but there for a while the overhaulers were handling it, so I backed out. I'll start checking again each day. Essjay TalkContact 00:45, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

Please, can someone check the site http://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Userlogin&type=signup& with an Internet Explorer ? I want to create an account, but unfortunately i see only a red X. --80.132.52.254 12:34, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

Bureaucrat work at RfA

Andrevan's RfA is still hanging at RfA. It's been active since April 7. We need a Bureaucrat to go over and close it (and possibly promote the user, since consensus seems to be sufficient). Thanks, Redux 19:20, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

The link on Image upload pages displays as [$1 Upload a new version of this file] (I assume the $1 is unintended, as it doesn't seem to have any data stored to it). The MediaWiki namespace page is MediaWiki:Uploadnewversion. Is anyone else getting this? -Mysekurity 02:36, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Block

Could someone please do something about User:Fratele lui Bonaparte, il cunosti?. He has been vandalising userpages (e.g. User:Node ue) making personal attacks [1], and I'm pretty sure he's violated the 3RR on Requests for permissions by deleting an entry four times. --Telex 12:29, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

This guy proves really obnoxious, check his contributions.. GerardM 22:15, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
I blocked him for a week .. given that Meta is not a project where you actually do "work" it should not be a hardship.

Unblock

I was blocked on english wikipedia because I supported the unblock of a user that is newbie. I posted unblock on my page and was immediately reverted and blocked. --Iasi 08:43, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

This is not the forum for that, but merely for sysop actions needed on meta; I would recommend contacting the sysop who blocked you.
James F. (talk) 09:41, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

Sorry for posting this here, but I REALLY need to know this and my questions seems to haven't been heard on the right place, where I posted it before ... If i run my own wiki, is it necessary that I show a link to www.mediawiki.org on my site or to note that my site was set up by using mediqiki-software? (like "powered by mediawiki") I tried to figure this out by reading the GPL but didn't find anything about that. As far as I have come I wouldn't need to mention this ... what do you say?? --149.148.230.94 18:24, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

That this is not the right place to ask this. Ask this on irc://irc.freenode.net/mediawiki or mediawiki-l --Walter 10:05, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

85.96.0.0/14

Is it possible to block this CIDR for anonymous edits, and is this the right place for this question? See 85.99.133.131 + 85.97.133.87. whois.ripe.net claims that both IPs belong to TurkTelecom. Just in case, 85.96.0.0/14 are about 260,000 IPs, blocking them all no matter what is probably a bad idea. -- Omniplex (w:t) 00:20, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Blocking those only for anons can not be done with the current software Vote for Bugzilla:550 --Walter 20:15, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Unlinkable page

The Google search "kiwi wikipedia" returns a link to the (English Wikipedia) Kiwi disambiguation page, from which it is possible to navigate to the Kiwi (a bird) article. This page is referenced in the Wikipedia "Birds" article as kiwi but the link is broken. (Aside: Kiwi also does not work. And entering Kiwi or kiwi in the Wikipedia search box and clicking Go or Search also does not find the page.)

There may be a more appropriate place to post this problem ... if so I could not determine where ...

I'm not sure what the problem is, but you might want to post it on Wikipedia instead. Try asking on w:Wikipedia:Village pump (assistance). // [admin] Pathoschild (talk/map) 16:06, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Invalid IDs generated by the Cite.php extension

Hi guys,

yesterday I left two messages on the following two talk pages

I'm under the impression they went totally unnoticed. Maybe that's not the right place for requesting fixes? A long time ago I also sent an e-mail to the developer of Cite.php but didn't get any reply (Note: the leading underscores would be ok in XML). Thanks in advance, Gennaro Prota 18:54, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

I've deleted the two pages above because they are orphaned talk pages. Try posting your comment to the MediaWiki mailing list instead. :) // [admin] Pathoschild (talk/map) 16:11, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Sockpuppetry from User:Jason Gastrich

User:Ruth Ginsling is a probable sockpuppet of User:Jason Gastrich. Ginsling's only edits are to come to Jason's defense, exactly like the sockpuppets Jason created on en.wikipedia which resulted in his being was banned from the English Wikipedia. See the arbitration case here. I tentatively suggest a checkuser of Ginsling and a block if it turns out to be a sockpuppet. JoshuaZ 01:57, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

See Requests for CheckUser information. // [admin] Pathoschild (talk/map) 16:17, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Deleting spam

Due to agressive spamming, Alphaworks and DeveloperWorks are in the spam blacklist.

These two articles are almost empty, and each one describes the other one, they are here just to put backlinks (there are lot of backlinks to these websites in WP). I wonder if a speedy deletion may be performed? Spankman 11:43, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Aren't they IBM products? I've heard of AlphaWorks, at least. Andre (talk) 22:51, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
If you believe they should be deleted, use Wikipedia's Proposed deletions or Articles for deletion. Meta-Wiki is a seperate project. :) // [admin] Pathoschild (talk/map) 16:24, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Impersonator on MO:Wikipedia

There is an impersonator on Moldovan Wikipedia http://mo.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Varul_lui_Bonaparte%2C_il_cunosti%3F who impersonates and vandalize my pages [4]. Block him, since it's clear a sockpuppet of User Node, please see here how immediatelly log in after node ue.

Node ue: 20:21, 9 June 2006

Varul lui Bonaparte, il cunosti? (he is the same Node ue, but using a sockppet) 20:22, 9 June 2006 (This account was created to impersonates me, as you can check mine account is 5 months old, and his account has only 2 days...)

You can use a CheckUser to establish if he is or not Node but first of all to block this impersonator. --Fratele lui Bonaparte, il cunosti? 07:28, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

This has nothing to do with Meta-sysop things. Your local sysop there is w:mo:User:Bogan, He seems to be actieve on EN wikipedia, ask him. w:en:User:Bogdangiusca. The MO wiki seems to have more problems then a vandal. You wiki seems to be closed and moved. In any case this is not the place to discus this. Try Wikipedia-l --Walter 10:00, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

Unblock

I was blocked on English Wikipedia en:User:Brasoveanul, even if no evidences have been provided. I requested a CheckUser and that proves that I was blocked illegal. I request to be unblocked now. The Admin that blocked me didn't provide any evidences and he will not be able to provide any. They harrast me. --Brasoveanul 12:30, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

It's very true that now all the romanian editors will be blocked soon. These russian admins have begun to block all romanians, e.g. en:User:Constantzeanu. --Brasoveanul 12:32, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

Have you attempted the dispute resolution process? If you wish, you can request a CheckUser at Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser (try logging out to edit the page). On this page you can ask meta admins a help to resolve problems on meta and only, with their sysop privilege, because we have no technical way to deal with problems.
I have no idea how English Wikipedia is related to this issue. Perhaps, I guess, it would be an incident on Russian Wikipedia, and then, en:WP:AN is no relevant to this issue.
For resolving an internal issue * with commentary and intervention of the grobal community * or outside of the place it happens, you may want to use meta for calling for comments. If it is the case, you can go to Requests for comments and create a page to discuss your concern.
Or you can discuss it on mailing list, wikipedia-l (subscription needed). But sorry, for now, we could do nothing to you as meta sysop. Good luck. --Aphaia 05:07, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Brasoveanul&diff=next&oldid=58913338 Look! They even block the page so that I could not edit it and defend myself! --Brasoveanul 06:46, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

This trolling is amusing. Bonaparte, the fact that you started this RFC only proves that you are Bonaparte - User:Excaliburo another Bonaparte sock has done the same thing. Telex 11:13, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
Do you continue to troll Latinus? Oh, sorry Telex. No, can you prove something? No. Have you checked the CheckUser results? No. Have you done an anouncement on W:ANI? No. You just want to block all the romanians editors like me. It doesn't matter that I'm not Bonaparte, for you all romanians are. I've seen the way all of you attack all the romanians. Every IP from Romania is Bonaparte and should be blocked, isn't it so Telex? Till now, all I've seen is your hatred towards romanians, nothing new. --Brasoveanul 11:59, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
More accusations of anti Romanianism and some world conspiracy against Romanians. How... Bonapartian. Telex 12:37, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

What the fuck you are accusing me? Why to do you keep saying like a robot Bonaparte, Bonaparte? --Brasoveanul 12:49, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

For the same reason you keep saying like a robot anti-romanian, anti-romanian. I don't accuse you of anti-hellenic sentiments. Bonaparte, on the English Wikipedia you are banned - you are not authorised to edit. Period. You can appeal it if you want, jut don't keep on evading it. The fact that you just said "Latinus" is further proof that you are a sockpuppet of Bonaparte. Telex 13:00, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
I've seen Latinus on page of Excaliburo. That's all. But you don't have any profs that myself or others are Bonaparte. Period. You just want that romanian editors to be blocked. Period. --Brasoveanul 12:57, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Another factor which reinfoces the proof you are Bonaparte is that Bonaparte is active on mowiki as we speak. Telex 13:04, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

So what. What does that thing relate to me? I just want to be justice. And it will be only when I will be unblocked. Only then. Stop harrasing me. --Brasoveanul 13:07, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
The bottom line is that metawiki can't help you. This is an internal issue of enwiki. Take it to your talk page there like you were advised to do. Telex 13:11, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
Well, I can't and you know it. Because of you and others they blocked my page and also my IP "as avoiding the block". You know very well how perverse you are. --Brasoveanul 13:13, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
Ask them to unlock it (or I'll ask them for you). Telex 13:14, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

I don't trust you do that. I mean the butcher and his victim...--Brasoveanul 13:15, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Too late - I've already requested it. Telex 13:20, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

After you spoke with me the way you did, I'm sorry but I can't forget you. --Brasoveanul 13:26, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

yawn... Telex 13:31, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
Yes. And what the hell that yawn... suppose to mean? Besides that is annoying is also rude. --Brasoveanul 13:47, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
