Meta:GlobalRenameQueue/Notes/134165

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Hi.

Dear @J ansari: ji,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention a matter of concern regarding the recent username change of Benipal Hardarshan to PunjabiNerd, which you approved as a global renamer.

User:Benipal hardarshan was a grant recipient for Wiki Loves Folklore 2023 and has been unresponsive to both the Wiki Loves Folklore International Team and the Wikimedia Foundation Grants team regarding unaccounted funds amounting to approximately $11,173 USD. Despite numerous attempts to engage with him for the return or explanation of these funds, he has been entirely uncooperative and has remained missing with the grants funds for a significant period till date.

Given this context, we believe that the recent request for a username change might have been made with the intent to dissociate from his prior identity and obligations within the Wikimedia movement. This raises concerns about transparency and accountability within our community.

In light of the above, I kindly request you to review and consider reversing his username change. This action would not only maintain integrity within the Wikimedia community but also discourage similar attempts by others in the future.

Thank you for your time and understanding. Please let me know if you need any additional information or documentation regarding this matter.

@J ansari, If needed in the future, you can use Special:GlobalRenameUser. Neriah - 💬 - 12:57, 6 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Neriah @Aafi I did with this way but I couldn't with error. -J. Ansari Talk 12:59, 6 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@J ansari, you would need to work with the check-boxes in a correct way - given that the username was previously held, so there would be anti-spoof issues. So check the box, and the issue won't be there again. signed, Aafi (talk) 13:13, 6 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
