Disinclined to rename. Was renamed on Oct 15, but was already blocked on ENWIKT. Passing it on for consideration. --Deepfriedokra (talk) 19:15, 21 October 2023 (UTC)
- I'd be inclined to revert to the previous username. The good faith rename by JBW as part of a UTRS unblock overlooked the enwikt block which is still in force. Reverting will mean going back to a blacklisted username. There is no resolution here which is 100% compliant with all the rules. Cabayi (talk) 12:18, 22 October 2023 (UTC)
- I apologise for my mistake. I must have forgotten to check for relevant information on other projects, as I certainly wouldn't have renamed if I had seen the full situation. However, granted that, as Cabayi says, there is no resolution which is compliant with all rules, my suggestion is that the least bad option is to leave things as they are, considering that the disruptive editing which led to blocks doesn't seem to be continuing (as far as I can see) and that disruptive editing was a fairly long time ago. However, I will not complain if Cabayi's preference for reverting goes ahead, and since that would restore the situation which would have existed if I had been more careful, I can certainly see that it is a reasonable option. - Cabayi and Deepfriedokra: My message above was written on the basis of a fairly quick look through the account's editing history on en.wikipedia, enough to persuade me that there was no more of the grossly unacceptable editing which there had been. However, since then I have made a more thorough investigation of the editing history, and while there is nothing anywhere near so bad, I see the editing as mostly unconstructive, and likely to lead to being blocked again before long. Sure enough, another en.wikipedia administrator (Bbb23) has contacted me saying that he thinks the block should be reinstated. If that is going to happen it may be seen as reducing the case for letting the rename stand, though I don't personally feel strongly one way or the other. I echo "No objections to any outcome".
