Introduction

Marathi Wikimedians User Group application has been approved on 15 March 2019 on behalf of the Affiliations Committee. Being it is first year the members focus on more on partnership and joint activities for Marathi Wikipedia.

Wiki GAP 2020

Marathi Wikimedians User Group organized a joint event Wiki GAP in association with the Consulate General of Sweden in Mumbai, on 6th March 2020.

'WIKIGAP' is a global initiative that aims to strengthen women's rights, representation and resources on Wikipedia

The Wiki GAP 2020 event was supported by Centre for Policy Studies, IIT Bombay, Consulate General of Sweden in Mumbai and Idobro Impact Solutions.

Marathi Wikipedia with Art+Feminism

Organized editathon with ART + Feminism for increasing content on Marathi Wikipedia More than 50 articles are created during the event. The dashboard for the event is here.

Marathi Wikipedia Women's editathon 2020

Conducted Womens Editathon on World women’s day for creation of articles on Marathi Wikipedia. The event page is here

To counter the gender imbalance on Marathi Wikipedia we started conducting Women's Editathon.

• The event was conducted on 8th March 2020.

• The objective is

1. To bring the woman's to Marathi Wikipedia.
2. Train them to use it
3. Create new articles
4. Increase the Wikipedia's community

Editathon at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad

Marathi Wikimedians User Group conducted Editathon at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad on 7th March 2020.

• The objective of the event

1. To create new articles on Marathi Wikipedia
2. Update content in existing articles
3. Train newbies
4. Create awareness about Marathi Wikipedia in the society

Reading Week

To create a knowledge society it is very necessary to inculcate the reading habit in individuals.

To promote reading Government of Maharashtra started celebrating "Reading day" (Wachan Prerna Din) in the state of Maharashtra on the birth anniversary of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.

Marathi Wikimedians User Group conducts reading week on Marathi Wikipedia during same period to encourage reading on Marathi Wikipedia.

This year also from 15th October 2019 we conducted reading Week on Marathi Wikipedia.

Partnership

Marathi Wikimedians user group has formally signed a MOU (Memorandum of understanding) with Encyclopaedia Creation Board, Government of Maharashtra.

• The objectives are

1. Get Government's help to promote Marathi Wikipedia
2. Government's help in training more volunteers.
3. Use the content created at Encyclopedia Creation Board for Marathi Wikipedia
4. Technology sharing
5. Knowledge sharing
6. Expert writers sharing

This will also help to make more literature copyright free by government.

Minutes of meeting Vishvakosh

Collaboration

Marathi wikimedians user group is collaborated with the Knowledge Board of Government of Maharashtra for Computer science and Technology for creation of technology content in Marathi language.

This collaboration has opened a new corridors for creation of more articles in the field of Computers and information technology in Marathi language.
