Maithili Wikipedia completed its third year on 7 November 2017. To celebrate the event, Maithili Wikimedians team members have organized an event to facilitate the winners of Maithili Wikipedia Sampadanthan and the anniversary celebration. Community members have organized a 7 days Edit-a-thon to create new articles on Maithili Wikipedia, which started on 1 November and lasted to 7 November. During the online Edit-a-thon, 82 new articles were created.

The event and prize distribution was organized at Hotel iGarden, Rajbiraj. In the events, Maithili Wikimedians, Maithili linguists, and Maithili journalists spoke about the need for a Maithili Wikipedia and its importance. The winners received awards from the Maithili literature Devendra Mishra.

The event ended with an informal session in which each of the participants was part of a ceremonial cake party. The event was reported in the Rajbiraj Today, News Today, Mithila and Aajko Waatawaran newspapers of Nepal.

More than 45 students and local wikipedians attend the event. There are 5 MWUG volunteers, who work hard to make the event successful. Apart from participants the event also felicitate the Maithili Literature Mr. Devendra Mishra, Social Activist Mr. Manish Kumar Suman, Secretary of Maithili Sahitya Parishad, Rajbiraj Mr. Satish Kumar Dutta and Youth Maithili poet and activist Mr. Bhupesh Kumar Bhup.
