Linking to external advertising accounts
The following page documents an official cross-project policy. This page has been developed and approved by the community and its compliance is mandatory for all users. It must not be modified without prior community approval. |
Policy
[edit]In accordance with the Wikimedia Terms of Use, Section 4, the community requires more detailed disclosure from certain types of paid editors:
We require those involved with paid editing on Wikipedia to link on their user page to all other active accounts on external websites through which they advertise paid Wikipedia editing business.
Implementation notes
[edit]As part of the enforcement we will be using software to identify which Wikipedia user pages include a link to the advertising accounts. This software is currently being tested. If, for any reason, you believe that your link to an advertising account is not being recorded in the tables above by the software, you may inform us on the talk page of this policy. Please include a link to both the advertising account and to your Wikipedia user page in that posting.
On-wiki accusations of "failing to provide a link" without evidence is considered harassment and is potentially sanctionable. Informing someone of this policy, however, is appropriate.
An email will be sent to the major freelancing platforms (including Upwork, Fiverr, Frelancer, and Guru) to notify them of this new requirement.
